    Just out of curiosity...

...how many of you guys who are in UK/US LDRs have closed the distance or are in the process of closing the distance? What's it like? Is it hard and time consuming? For those who've moved, what was the move like? What did you have to do to make the move reality? There's so many questions I want to ask but I think I'd be here for a very long time listing them all lol

I'm just really curious and I'd like to know

Well I moved from US but not to UK. If you just go read a bit through the Alumni section as well as the Closing the Distance section, you'll find TONS of opinions about moving.

What's it like-it was fun and exciting for me
    Time consuming and hard?-yes
What was the move like-annoying, I hate moving
What did I have to do?-buy a plane ticket. That's really all anyone has to do. Of course there's plenty of other suggested things to prepare for a move, like saving up 4-5 months of living expenses, looking for a job, finding a place to live, getting visas, etc.

We're not US/UK but I moved into the US. I think every closing the distance situation will have its similarities but each story is also vastly different. For us, it wasn't too hard or time consuming. I moved here on a student visa and the whole process, from applying to the school to the move took not quite 3 months. The visa process is easier/harder based on what country you're from, and also the type of visa you're applying for.

The move was...pretty hectic, I guess. There wasn't a lot of time for me to clean out a room I've lived in for 11 years and pick out what exactly I needed to bring, so I hardly brought anything here with me. The move affected me quite a lot emotionally because I had very strong relationships with my family and friends, and resulted in big mood swings I'm still trying to keep under control.

I needed savings, a lot of savings, because I've been here for half a year and haven't found a job yet (partially due to the restriction to on-campus jobs because of the visa). I thankfully was prepared for that, which is the only reason I managed to survive this long without a job. /: I also needed a visa, plane tickets and a place to live before I made the move.
