    International Mailing

My SO is in St. Maarten for medical school right now and I was thinking about mailing him a care package. I'm scared of what it is going to cost me to ship though and I can't seem to find the right prices. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with international mail? I'd be mailing from the US to St. Maarten

The USPS website has a postage calculator. It should give you a reasonable idea of how much it would cost, depending on what you send.

Or you could go to the post office and they can explain you too. I've mailed international, all I can say is that is a little slow.

I've done it before from Las Vegas to Windsor :P. Always showed up within a week or so. Not that expensive either. I always payed extra for the priority mail or something similar though XP. It's never cost me more than maybe $15 to send anything. Then again that's 2003 monies XP. Wait, how bad is inflation now? Screw it, it shouldn't be too much of an issue if you're willing to pay a little extra. I wouldn't risk regular, ever @_@.

I've bought a lot of things online from the US, I'm from Australia and the shipping has been pretty good (US shipping costs are so much cheaper than Australian shipping costs). I've found regular postage to be about $10 (i buy cosmetics) and arrives between 1-2 weeks generally.

International shipping can cost quite a bit, if you're not careful, I just mailed a 2lb package to Finland and it cost me $30! Sometimes my packages get there in a week, sometimes three, so be aware it's not always consistent. Don't be too worried though, go to the post office and ask, I've found their website and the prices I'm charged can be different. Take your package and ask the clerk to weigh it and tell you the price to St. Maarten, they're usually pretty helpful.
