    gift ideas.....

So, Friday is our anniversary. We don't get to see each other, but I'm going home from college for the summer on Sunday, and then we have a whole 2 weeks together before I have to leave for a work trip.

My problem right now, is that I need a present for him. I know that he got me something that was $5 but is something pretty nice that cost $30 at other stores. It is also not "some typical girl gift". Presents have been an argument point for us in the past, and sometimes he feels that I don't put enough thought into them, and when I don't know what to get that shows that I don't know him as well as I should and so on and so forth.....

My main problem is lack of shopping opportunities and lack of time. I want to get him something fairly inexpensive, but nice. The only stores in walking distance are very expensive clothing stores, a book store, a CVS, and 2 toy stores. I have gotten him toys in the past, but that doesn't seem good enough this time. I'm also in the midst of finals week and packing and have very limited time.

So, I guess to the point, I think I want to make something. I am somewhat artistic. I have a sketchbook and colored pencils and a camera, and small amounts of different colors of duct tape. Does anyone have any ideas on something quick that I could make? He is very self conscious about anything that could look girly. Any other ideas would be appreciated...

My girlfriend gave me 20 folded oragami stars and sent them in a small heart shaped jar. Each one had a message hidden inside, written on the backside of the paper. Each week I open one new message. She made 20 because at that time it would be 20 weeks until we got to see each other again. I really liked this gift myself. The stars are neat and the prospect of opening a new message each week is fun. The stars themselves are not very hard to learn, at least from my personal experience. I learned to do it pretty quickly. https://www.dltk-kids.com/world/japan/morigami_star.htm This site can show you how to make them. I'm sure there are also youtube videos that can teach you as well. Good luck!
