I'm starting to feel like this LDR is for nothing... is there really a chance that we can make things work in the long run? We're both so young, and there's so much doubt from my parents... I just feel like we should stop kidding ourselves that this will work. And I hate myself for feeling this way... any advice?

How come you feel this way? Has anything happened recently to put a damper on your thoughts?
Why won't it work? You guys are only 230 miles away from each other. I know that it might seem like a lot, but I bet that your visits are cheaper than most peoples.. and I bet that because they're cheaper, you might get to see each other a little more often than most people (but correct me if I'm wrong!). How often do you get to see him?
If he's someone you can't see yourself without, don't give up! If it's a once in a lifetime love, don't give up! Distance is just a number - love is greater than any distance, no matter how big or how small. Don't let anyone's opinions get to you - they don't understand the reasons why you put up with the distance and they probably don't get why a young person would spend so much time on a someone who is far away, they think young people should be out partying every weekend and "living life". You don't have to be like everyone else though.
We all face struggles, and that's the reason why LFAD exists! But the beauty in this is the end result - finally being together, and knowing that you both made it through all those difficult times when you were so close to giving up.

Distance is distance. My love and I were only 363....but it might as well had been 5,000...but we DID overcome it...it took time...and a lot of patience...and we truly had to be commited and ready....it will happen.
Don't give up on love.....if it's meant to be...it WILL happen.NY to Texas Married on...August 17th, 2013

Doubt from parents can definitely make it difficult and I totally understand that. Don't let it get to you if you feel your relationship is worth holding onto! My mother said things all the time like "if you make it through the summer" meaning after we graduated college we might last me being in grad school and it really got to me. I was so tired of others bringing me down, that I made a positive quote jar. Sounds corny, but it helps me a lot. I turn to it whenever I feel like the distance is getting to me and that we're kidding ourselves to think we'll make it work. If you make one, a good quote to start with would be the one in your signature. Hope this helps and that you're feeling better. Good luck!
