    Tricks to finding cheap(er) flights

Does anybody out there know what you have to do (i.e. where to look & when) to find more affordable flights? I'm looking for roundtrip flights between Chicago and Washington, D.C.

BUT... I've never booked a flight before, so I don't know where to look or how early or if some days are better than others. I'd really appreciate any and all advice/information you can share.

Hiya! There are some sites to look at...priceline has name your own price, orbitz, lastminute.com, try the actually airlines as well, expedia, travelocity...there are a lot of sites out there. As for the days to travel...during the week is always best and the fares get more expensive during the weekend! I'm pretty sure Wednesday is a cheaper day to fly as well.

I don't really know if it's all the same for domestic flights compared to international but hope that helps some!!!

    Good Luck

This thread should probably help a tad

Oh, and one thing I have done recently is put flexible dates in the search box for tickets to get an idea of what is the best day to fly on. I think that should really help if you are buying tickets at the last minute because I have found tickets that are less than a week away that you could get for around $300 compared to $500-$800
