Crazy!! Has anyone else dreamt that they got married to their SO?
I have a feeling that this dream is a result of my SO telling me a few nights ago about what kind of wedding she would want to have, and where she wants her honeymoon, etc...
I'm going to explain what the dream involved so everyone can read, but also because I want to get it written out so I can reference this later if I forget anything before I'm able to tell her about it later today.
Alright, so! This dream started out at her parent's house (which I've never seen before, so it was completely made up in my imagination), and I was in the back yard about to go swimming in the pool (that she doesn't have). I was sort of playing with this kid that was there about to go swimming as well, but I don't know who he was. As far as the dream was concerned, he wasn't a friend or family member, and not anyone I recognized...just a random person, lol. Either way, I was playing around with him.
Eventually, I came out of the pool, and at that moment my SO arrives with her dad. This was pretty shocking because, I've never met her parents before, and in this dream, I'm meeting them for the first time... So, I'm embarrassed to be meeting her dad for the first time when I've literally just stepped out of the pool and am dripping with water... And I'm also thinking to myself "why am I at her parents house, swimming in their pool before I've even met them, ON the day I'm meeting them??" I felt really confused and this was actually the first moment in the dream where I started to become suspicious on whether I was in a dream or not. I had to ignore that feeling though because her dad was standing right there waiting for me to introduce myself. Dream or not, I had to do my best in this odd situation to make an impression, even if I am soaking wet wearing only swim shorts... I shook his hand, said hello, and that was pretty much it. I don't remember having a conversation with him or anything but he seemed pleased enough with me.
The dream sped forward a little to a moment where I was now going to be meeting her mom! I was dressed this time, casually, but it was better than having just come out of the pool earlier. Now, as I mentioned earlier, I haven't met her parents yet, so, I am quite nervous about doing that one day, but her dad is the laid back easy one to converse with, whereas her mom is really the one I need to impress. Having that thought in mind is probably the reason why all I had to do was shake her dad's hand and say hello to satisfy his judgment of me, lol. Her mom however, not so easy! So anyway, back in the dream, my SO brought a woman up to me who, I thought was her mom, but wasn't. Turns out it was her grandma (I think), but I didn't realize this until after I'd already gone through a formal introduction and commented about how beautiful her house is, etc etc... Then she sort of just walked away from me... I thought that was kind of odd (and a little rude) but, I kept a positive expression on my face.
Right as she walks away, my SO's actual mom appears in front of me, and I was so shocked that she was just suddenly THERE, that I couldn't really talk. Also, I was still getting over the fact that I had introduced myself to my SO's grandma, while thinking that it was her mom. I thought I did a pretty good job handling the meeting too, so, that pressure of the 'first contact' with someone who I thought was her mom was temporarily lifted, RIGHT at the moment her actual mom shows up, lol. I was COMPLETELY unprepared! I literally had no idea what to do. I know I had a dumb surprised expression on my face, and probably a little bit of fear too, and I knew she could see it. She was just standing there, watching me, observing, waiting for me to make a move, ALREADY testing me. I felt like I was running a marathon race where, as soon as the gunshot went off, I stumbled and tripped at the start, slowly picked myself back up and, instead of trying to run and at least finish, I just stood there watching everyone run away from me. My chances of impressing her...that's what I was watching run away from me, lol. I gave up. I was so caught off-guard that I had nothing to say. I think I managed a "hello," but nothing else. I truly felt like I just blew my one and only chance to gain her approval, and in doing that, blew my chance at being with my SO...
In the wake of that failure of a first impression, my dream sped forward again to what would be the cause for once again being suspicious of whether I was dreaming or not... My dream sped forward to the point where I was signing marriage papers with my SO lol. I literally had a pen in my hand and was about to sign some paper (maybe the marriage license or something?), and I paused, thinking to myself "How did I get here?" I started to realize more that I MUST be dreaming, I MUST... Apparently, we'd just been married, done the wedding thing, and were just finalizing paperwork I guess. I signed, she signed, I kissed her...and temporarily forgot about my dream suspicions.
Fast forward a little bit again, my SO and I are entering a loud but semi-fancy restaurant, about to meet up with some friends of hers. I remember how great I felt walking in there, knowing I was married to her... However, as we walked through the restaurant to our table where her friends were waiting, my suspicions creeped back, and I asked her directly "Is this a dream?" to which she replied with a simple "what?" I then told her how I didn't remember anything up to this point... I told her that I don't remember anything before getting married either... She sort of laughed it off. We arrived at our table and sat down with her two friends.
From that point on, the dream is a bit of a blur and not long after meeting her friends, I woke up. I wasn't sad when I woke up but, I was disappointed slightly. Against all odds and with terrible introductions, I suppose I had still managed to impress my SO's parents enough for them to approve our marriage. Or...maybe they didn't approve, and we went and got married anyway...? Who knows, my dream skipped that part, lol.
So, that was my dream, hope you all enjoyed it hehe
