When it was my SO's Bday we weren't official yet. We were just talking a lot and getting to know each other. However, the connection was there :-)
For his Bday, I bought this cute -already decorated- Bday box and I put inside his favorite chocolates, also some Colombian coffee, as he loves coffee and you know, Colombian coffee is one of the best!! :-p I knew he was going to like it and be reminded of me.
Inside there was also this cute Bday card and I wrote there my Bday message to him. He loved it!
To make him smile, I looked for nice quotations online about being patient and nice Bday wishes. I wrote some of them on small colorful stickers I have and threw them all over the nice box.
He was very very happy when he got it -it was a surprise- and he loved all the cute things I did to make him smile on his special day.

A letter and spray your perfume on it! or... some clothes- like shirts or boxers/briefs. If you know his favorite movie send him a little gift box with a movie, popcorn and some candy! If he wears jewelry you could always get him a bracelet or a necklace!sigpic

The first birthday I was in Obi's life I sent a small box of chocolates (I mean tiny, I think there were four in there? haha) and a cheap horse necklace. I can't remember if I sent a card, but knowing me, I did.
Now those are his favorite kind of chocolate, and he still wears his horse necklace constantly(not the same one though, the one I sent for his 18th broke, so I got him another for his 21st. When he's 30 I might upgrade it again, get him a nice gold/white gold one or something). It's a trend.
Photos are a great idea, anything with your scent, a letter telling him what you'd do for him if you were there never goes astray either!Happily married to the little Canadian boy I never thought I'd meet in person
