So, my girlfriend is in New Jersey, where they say the biggest storm in the US is supposed to hit, Hurricane Sandy
. I'm so so scared, if something happens to her, I'll never forgive myself for not being there with her, I won't ever do a long distance relationship again if something happens to her, I swear it. I haven't been able to work all day, I'm so worried :'( yea we fight a lot, but I love her.. and I can't loose her

I am in New York, right on the coast. I just started to get some of the outer band of the storm here. It's really not that bad so far. I am certain your girlfriend will be just fine. They encourage people to be prepared and if need be, evacuate. They take every precaution to make sure everyone remains safe. My SO is upstate in New York, so it's not like he's getting hit as badly as I am. I'm just worried about being able to stay in touch with my SO if we lose power. But, I promise you she will be fine! =]

She'll be fineeeeeee, everyone up here in the northeast knows how this stuff works. :P I'm in Massachusetts and we just started getting the wicked wind a couple hours ago. My family is down in CT about an hour out of NYC and are having fun basically preparing for the apocalypse. Just make sure she stays indoors and I'm positive she'll be fine.

I work in the City and live right outside. We'll be fine. As long as your girlfriend takes the proper precautions, she'll be fine. I'm from south east USA, we get pounded by hurricanes alllll the time. They're not that big a deal. Most of the time.
I've lived through so many hurricanes that were supposed to wipe out half the state, and instead we end up with a little rain and wind.
She'll be fine.Last edited by lucybelle; October 29, 2012, 01:08 PM.

my SO is from NJ also..... not near the coast... but still... close enough to be blown away
haven't heard from him yet and I am worried sick.... it's going to be a long night for me....The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.

My SO and family live in New Jersey. I'm getting worried. Thankfully they live pretty far from the shore.
My daddy works for the power company in NJ so I'm more scared for him really. He has to be out in the bad weather.
The bad part about this storm is that the northeast isn't prepared for hurricanes like the south is. I've been trying to explain this to my friends in FL all day since they think this is no big deal.

Frank and I live in Maine near the coast. It's not supposed to hit us too bad here but we've been told to definitely prepare for power outages and flooding in some areas.
We've got a camp stove, a storage tub filled with water, lots of bottled water, canned baked beans, "just add water" kraft mac n' cheese cups, fruit cups, flash lights, candles... I think we're all set!
Everyone stay safe!
