He is flying into a blizzard

    I am beyond stressed

My SO is coming to visit for the first time in more than a year and he is scheduled to land in Logan at 7pm tomorrow. The same Logan airport in Boston where they are getting over 30 inches of snow today and tomorrow. This is being called a historic storm and worse than the blizzard in '78 that killed over a 100 people. All the flights today were canceled but tomorrow, so far, his flight is still scheduled with no cancellation. I am beyond freaked because if he flies in tomorrow I CANNOT go get him. The buses that run from here to Boston are all not running tomorrow and my car is a unbelievably old light compact that will no doubt be destroyed by the 75+ mph wind that is accompanying this storm, not to mention it would fly all over with the snow. My parents feel bad but they also are not comfortable driving me down to get him, so until the buses start up again Sunday he is going to be stuck in the airport alone...if his flight even happens. Usually its not the end of the universe if a flight is cancelled because they will put you on the next soonest one, but my SO has NO money, I am the one with the small amount of cash we were going to use for the 2 week visit...so if he gets stuck he can't buy food or anything. Not to mention he had to use all his remaining cash to buy a non-transferable train ticket to London to fly out. So once he gets to London he cannot get back, he bought a round trip that isn't going back until the 25th.

I am so scared. Not to mention I am also getting this blizzard so as I sit here the snow is coming down crazy fast and I am terrified I will lose power.

We really needed this visit, things have been awful for us lately...and now...now its a mess. I just want to curl up in a ball and sob

I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you. My SO is in NH, so I am worrying about the snow for him as well.

No, they cancelled his flight...just found out. Due to laws in the Uk he may just go to the airport anyways, since the law states that the airlines have a duty of care for passengers of cancelled flights that include food and accommodations. So he will go to Heathrow and probably be put up in a hotel until Sunday when they flights resume. This is awful

This is the best case scenario! Try and think of the positives. Better than flying into a blizzard and being stranded at a foreign airport for the weekend.

No best case is what just happened! Apparently they had a flight leaving later when the storm is supposed to have passed. I still need well wishes and prayers (if you do that) because if he is wicked unlucky this one may get cancelled too....but I refuse to believe that will happen!

(Yes this will still mean him hanging at the airport in Boston for a few hours, but only until 5:30 am when the first bus arrives!)

I'm really glad you guys are getting a visit, and I'll be hoping for a safe flight for him. I've done an overnight in an airport before, and it's unpleasant, but bearable. I'm sure everything will go smoothly, and probably part of your panic is nerves to see him and about your visit. Things will work themselves out.

I'm glad it got sorted out, I hope he has a safe trip. I had to spend a night at Washington Dulles due to a big snow storm, it's not so bad at a big airport like that. I'm sure it'll be OK.

My SO's colleague meant to surprise her husband with a trip to NYC for Valentine's Day. But the flight got cancelled because of the storm and she bought travel insurance too late to be able to claim anything. I can't believe her bad luck! What a bummer

I hope everything goes okay! I live in Connecticut and we got about 30" here, Boston has about 20". I know Patrick (MA's governor) has pretty much everyone on house arrest with a mass traveling ban so I hope that's over by tomorrow for you guys.

He got cancelled AGAIN. Now they are putting him in a hotel until Monday nights flight that will get him her at 10 pm Monday. We are losing 2 days, and I know everyone here who has waited over a year for a visit knows just how much time that is to lose off a 2 week visit.
