I get 35 days a year or 7 weeks but the hospital im at has a policy of not taking more than 2 weeks off unless we make a deal with the ward manager. I can sometimes get more off if I work double shifts. What i tend to do is the week before i go i'll work a double shift and 3 short shifts so i get an extra day : ). I would work 2 double shifts but they dont like that lol plus...im not so good working double shifts back to back. As for time between visits its not normally more than 4 months.

I get 21 days per year, plus between Christmas and New Year, so it works out to about 25 days per year. My SO gets a ridiculous amount of leave though- 40 days per year, plus whatever overtime he works he can claim back as leave. The result of this is that he currently has 45 days leave left for this year, and he just spent 2 weeks here with me. We have agreed though, that we'd rather see each other more often than always be on leave at the same time. Hence, I only took off 2 days while we was here recently, and he worked for 1 of the 3 weeks I spent with him in December/January.

Like you, I prefer it that way. It's like training for how life will be once we close the distance - we'll both be busy during the day and only have evenings and weekends together.

I think that is how it is going to work for us as well. Visit when one of us can take time off so we have "more" time together. As it is, we are looking at long distance for 4/5 years, and our careers/education comes first, so I guess I will have to fit the relationship around that!

That sounds awesome! Is your SO working, and will she quit her job or take a leave for her 6 month visit?
Originally posted by MattDavies86 View PostSimilar with me, I get 22 days a year vacation (originally 20 days but 1 extra day for every 3 years worked at the company), but, I am a little lucky, I am going for 2 days in May, but I booked so one day is a bank holiday, only needed to use 9 days instead of 10, then going for a week in August, but this is only to pick my SO up so she will come to the UK with me for 6 months, yea I'll still work, but she will have plenty to do here, I've arranged guitar lessons for her from my brother, english lessons to perfect her english, my mother will spend time with her, i've made other Thai connections with Thai women here and their husbands so she can talk to them, so many things
Then go back in February next year with her once her 6months is up, then 2 months and it'll be April, start of a new business year, start of new holidays 22 all over again, and then I'll go in April, and go in june and then we will work on a finacee Visa and get married When she's here and then she will stay

Seeing as I just found a summer job I was hesitant to ask for the full 9 days off that he'll be here. So asked for the first Friday and Saturday that he's here and they're not open on Sundays so that gives us the whole weekend then i'll probably work a couple short shifts during the week and the day he leaves I got the day off. He seems okay with it, plus it'll give him more time to get to know my family and my family to get to know him while i'm at work
Then we probably won't make another visit until Halloween (when my job ends) and i'll have to go where he is. I'll be in school though so it'll probably only been a week or two and i'll just do my homework while he's at school or work. After that he gets 10 days for Christmas break so he'll be coming back here again for that....then we just don't know!Made it official: 12-01-10
First visit: 3-29-13/4-09-13
Closed the distance: 07-31-13

I work full time. I can get up to two weeks vacation. Since starting my LDR, I take 2 or 3 days and then the weekend behind it. I try to schedule time around holidays that I would have off from work already. The holiday and the weekend give us 3 days and I can take 2 or 3 days... that gives me almost a week without having to use vacation time.
It keeps me really motivated at work knowing that I have leave upcoming. My supervisor is willing to work with me because my performance is through the roof. So far, I haven't used any vacation time and have managed to work out taking 2 or 3 days off here and there. I expect to be able to take my vacation in addition to having taken some days off throughout the year. She wants to visit for 2 full weeks in August, and I expect to be able to take time off for that visit.

We both work full time, him 9-5ish Mon-Fri and me four evenings a week. That gives me a bit of extra time to play with to visit him as every month or so it works out so I get five days off in a row. For the other times, he comes on a Friday after he finishes work and goes back on a Sunday evening. We're also doing the one of us taking holiday while the other works thing later this month when I am there for 10 days. The way I figure, there's nothing at my house that I can't do at his, and I'd rather do it there and get to see him at least evenings during the week than do it at home and not get to see him at all.

Way I figure it I am lucky, Met her November, left end of November, now it's 5 months until I see her *(from November only 2 months left) and that is the longest period we will ever be apart again, 3months until August, 6 months on, 2 week Thailand, 2 months until I see her again, then 3-4months for Fiancee Visa and she's here permanent

I work extra at the local shop in weekends sometimes and stand in when I'm needed, the owner is my neighbour so I can get as much time off as I want really. It's worse with school, but after this upcoming fortnight there really won't be any problems, so I'm going to head to England over easter and search for a summer job there, go back home, finish the last courses while registering at a pool for stand-ins (mostly daycare and primary school teaching) where I can choose whether to accept the offer or not (couple days at a time but ridiculously well paid) while searching for a job and a flat in UK, then head there after my graduation and stay there around 18 months
As it is now it really all depends on school, and with marticulations coming up I haven't been able to visit my SO/he visit me for 2½ months, but this will hopefully be the longest we have to be apart before our gap year Our longest visit so far has been 3 weeks, which was last summer since I didn't have a job, and neither did he...We part only to meet again ~ J.Gay

I work part time and get 1 vacation day a month (4 hours) that can accumulate up to 20 days a year (77 hours). I also get most holidays off. This works out great for us because these holidays usually fall on a Monday which will allow me to take a Thursday and Friday off and go to see my SO, stay for the weekend and drive back on that Monday holiday that I have off. This way I don't use up all my vacation time. We also do a meet inbetween our towns somewhere for just a weekend. He doesn't get vacation time where he works because he's just a contractor so most of our meet ups rely on meeting in the middle or time I get from work. It works for us and we are able to see each other at least once a month.
