I mostly call him babe or papi, but often refer to him as cuppycake also. He mostly calls me babe or mami, I like them both but am kinda more drawn to him calling me mami. I guess it's a cultural thing? -shrugs-

I used to call him Chunky or Chunky Monkey because he likes chunky peanut butter up and Ben&Jerry's chunky monkey. He calls me babe, Brieboo, my love, sweetie or PB cup (because we both love peanut butter cups). Most often we call each-other hosers/benders or d*ckholes lol. All lovingly, obviously.

My SO only calls me by my nickname 'Jazi', it's very weird for me to hear him say my full first name (Jasmin) cos he NEVER does. I really like that he always calls me Jazi; a lot of people will mix between nicknames for me.. it'll be weird hearing him say "i take you Jasmin.." on our wedding day
his name is Tristan, I call him 'Trist' or 'Mr'. I guess 'mr' is my 'go to' petname - when I'm calling out his name or trying to get his attention, otherwise it's Trist, I call him Trist when i'm referring to him around other people too; hardly EVER say Tristan.Met Online: February 2009

We use a cutsy version of our own name a lot. He calls me Heathy or Heatherwy (real name: Heather) and I call him Chwissy or Chwissery (real name: Chris, Christopher).
We call each other loads of cutesy names.. commonly, baby, cutie, cutie pie, husband/wife, and uniquely sniffy, sniffery, sniffers, sniffs.. Also darling and honey were used in the past more...

We pretty much call eachother our names. I feel the need to call him something else though. I like his name but it just sounds strange to me, unfamiliar. Has this happened to any of you ? particularly those whose SOs from different countries?
Problem is, at the beginning, he kep calling me all sorts of sugary cutesy stuff, which i tolerated until it just became too sweet and I was kind of strict and pretty clear about how i don't like that and he should stop. So now, almost a year into it... I feel pretty weird calling him anything else but his name...
So.. any advice on how to relax on that.. sneak a petname/nickname in without anyone noticing?

My SO always calls me princess. Or I'm his penguin (because I'm OBSESSED with penguins). Everyone but me calls him DJ, but usually, if i am calling him by his name, which is rare, I call him Dylan. It just feels a lot more personal to me than DJ. I call him darling a lot, and being from the south, we have the accent to match. He calls me sweetie when I'm being silly. He's my puppy.

We usually call each other by Finnish nicknames but occasionally honey as well. He calls me rakas, kulti, kulta (dear, sweetheart, darling), höpsö, höpsöpöpsö (silly), hassu (funny) etc.

So...he calls me the following :P
mi hermosa dama --- (his spanish version for "my fair lady", it was the first nickname he gave me)
copito de nieve --- (little snowflake)
flor --- (flower)
princesa hermosa --- (beautiful princess...duh :P)
And... he's my "príncipe" (prince), "caballero" (gentleman/knight, depending on the context), "guapo" (handosme! :P), "bonito" (pretty)

Oh my gosh, what doesn't he call me? I think he purposely tries to come up with new nicknames for me as our relationship progresses. My all time favorite is "baby" or "baby goose"...they just make me feel warm and safe and happy inside. Honey, honey bunny, sweetie, sweetie pie, sweetcheeks (his new one :P) sexy, beautiful, gorgeous, my wife, my gorgeous girlfriend...and that's just off the top of my head! I call him babe, beloved, sparky, handsome, and husband. You can also combine any of those words and get variations on our nicknames. We joke that it's so funny when we use each other's actual names, since we're so used to "babe" and "baby."
I always wanted someone to call me "baby." I love it. (And with his Irish accent? Can't get any better than that! )"I love thee to the depth, and breadth, and height my soul can reach..." ~Elizabeth Barrett Browning

his LAST name is actually really nice as a first name too and would have been on my short list of baby names.. (we aren't fans of naming our kids the same name as us, I know a lot of people do it though. Also.. last name as a first/last name.. god help the child!). There are some downfalls to having such a nice named SO

I agree on the cutesy names, I have always felt weird being called babe/baby/sexy/honey.. etc. One of my exes called me 'bub' which I thought was a little out of the ordinary and I didn't mind it. In a lot of ways I feel like 'Jazi' IS my SOs petname for me, even though other people do call me that sometimes, it's nice to hear him say it and I feel like the typical petnames are cheesy for me (Although weirdly not cheesy if other people call each other that, it's just weird me saying/being called that)
if you DO want to get some awesome petnames happening you could talk to your SO about it, its kind of fun coming up with names, sometimes me and my SO sarcastically will call each other 'babe', its a fun topic of conversation and you could get some cute little names out of itMet Online: February 2009
