Thank you all SO MUCH for your replies! They have made me feel a lot less victimised and made it clear it's not just me...
So is the general opinion that I should NOT go for a visitor's visa?
In answer to some of your questions... I only go for 10 days - 2 weeks at a time. I spend at least a month in the UK in between visits (the last stay home stint between US visits was 10 weeks) so I am in the UK a lot more than I am in the US. When I next go out it will be in September for 2 weeks before going to New Zealand for over a year... I will not have a return ticket home but I will have a ticket for a flight from LAX to New Zealand and a print out showing my visa for New Zealand. My SO will be meeting me at the airport & also has the same New Zealand flight booked and he will have a visa in his passport as well proving he too is coming to NZ with me!
So I agree with you all... it seems silly I should have to apply for a visitors visa when I am doing everything legally and have never outstayed my welcome! There is no limit on how many times you can travel under the Visa Waiver Program!!!! However, I am a born worrier and if I didn't apply for one I would be terrified I would get in trouble for not doing what I am told and the whole way there I would be panicking that I am not gonna get in...
