Anyone and their SO looking to move into the UK?

Just wondering if anyone (a brit with a foreign SO or a foreign person with a british SO) looking into getting visas to live together in Britain? I myself am British and have a foreign SO and although we are a longgggggg way off even thinking about moving countries the probablity that we can live in England together has seriously dropped. As because of Theresa May and her new rules Anyone in the process of applying for a visa or has recently gained one that can save my sanity a little bit and tell me there is hope?! I dislike the idea of having to move just because the government has made it pretty much impossible to apply and gain spouse visas, but that seems like the only option.

Does your SO not have European citizenship or something?

I'm just curious because if he has European citizenship, he doesn't need a visa to live in the UK...

If he doesn't have citizenship, there are plenty of people on here that have gone through migrating to the UK.

You should be fine as he's an EU citizen. We're doing it but he's from USA so it's slightly more difficult. Where there's a will there's a way though.

Tooki is right, if he's fro Spain, he should be a EU citizen and therefore no visa required, my SO and I just got a visa for her to come here and stay with me for 6 months, it was no problem, she's from Asia just to be clear, not EU, I've had no troubles with it really except clerical. We will be working on a settlement visa next year though

Will he not need any sort of visa at all? That's great news! 80anthea, I know how you feel, I know people who are engaged and have lived in the UK before are struggling to get a spouse visa once they get married (he is from the UK, she is from USA) I just wish it wasn't so hard for people who love each other to live together; at the moment complete outsiders to the UK have more rights than people trying to gain a spouse visa...

Well when My Father moved to the UK, he gotten a Work Visa (I think) and worked for 2 years, and then applied for the other citizen ship type (I do not know that much about this). Obviously he already had a house to stay in though. ( I guess things have changed since it was over 20 years ago) .

and at the moment, My SO wants to move to the UK once she finishes college (in 3 years) if we're still together. it should be easier because I am from the UK and have been living there.

No visa needed at all. Europe is cool like that.

My SO and I actually considered the idea of him applying for Italian citizenship to get around having to apply for a visa for him to join me in the UK but thats a bigger pain in the arse.

                    hi,
My SO is non EU, he is coming for 6 months hopefully, where do we start? He is from the USA, I have looked on the immigration website and its sooo confusing.
                    Any help would be appreciated.

If he's an american citizen he doesnt need a visa if he's only staying for 6 months or less.
