I've just started a relationship with a man I met online. Although we don't live as far apart as many of you on here (1 1/2 hours) we work totally different schedules and so it's hard to find time to meet. I'm so excited to possibly meet him in a few weeks! But what I'd like to hear from you is your first meeting experience How long did you plan your meeting? What did you do? Was it awkward? Did you actually make plans or just go with the flow once you met? I'd love to hear your stories, as I'm getting anxious myself on our first meeting!

We decided we wanted to meet after being together for about half a year. Our relationship got more serious as we faced lots of obstacles and we just felt the need to meet each other. So we picked a date that would work for us both (with work and college it had to be far in the future) and we met a day before we were together for 10 months!
I was visiting him in America so he had to make all the plans! I was there for 11 days and every single day was packed with action, I met a new person a day and got to know all of the most important people in his life!! It was great and I love thinking back to it

We planned to meet after admitting our feelings for quite a while. He came to visit me, and we were going to meet for the first time, just as friends. It was a lot easier to settle into everything that way for me.
The first day was exciting but we were both a little nervous. While we spoke, you could tell we weren't completely relaxed (or at least he wasn't xD) until a few hours later, but we were both happy. My friend was with us too. It was a great day and week though. That day was one of our favorites, we went to the beach and swam and tanned and got pretty sun burnt! xD
We didn't really make plans for that week, I just asked him things he would want to do when he was here and he just said the beach, hiking, and anything that we feel like doing that day. He doesn't really like to plan xD
I was really nervous like you before we met, and even when we did. But honestly, it's SO fun meeting for the first time! Seriously, if you guys can be yourselves around each other, it'll be a great experience

Stephen and I waiting THREE long years to meet! Sounds crazy, I know. That's just how it worked out, though. Out feelings were so strong for each other that when we finally met we were very emotional and had such strong feelings for each other. We held each other in the airport terminal for like 10 minutes straight. It wasn't awkward as all, everything just fell right into place.

My s/o and I met after over two years of talking online every so often and about two months after we admitted feelings for one another which lead to us talking daily. I didn't really get scared or nervous right away as we used to Skype all the time and pretty much knew what each other looked like ect. However, as soon as I stepped off the plane it all hit me and I then became a nervous mess lol.
When we first saw each other, we hugged and I kissed him on his cheek. The first 20 minutes of our 1.5 hour long car ride were completely silent. Both of us were just taking everything in and couldn't believe we were finally in each other's prescience. Finally he broke the ice and from that point it turned out to be the most amazing weekend ever!! I got to meet his family and we had the best time just hanging out and him showing me his city.
I wish you the best for your first visit. I still sometimes reflect on our visit and smile, it was also the weekend we became an official couple.

First time meeting is always great....we met after five years of talking (finally) but for his first visit to see me, he only stayed three days. It sucked, but for the first time I guess I couldn't complain. We didn't really have a game plan, we kind of just went with the flow and appreciated our time together. It was the best weekend of that summer

Aww, man. I can't find my SO's original itinerary I think he flew out here on Christmas eve last year, so Dec 24th, 2012. Basically we didn't meet each other in person until over a year of LD. It was pretty fantastic, a bit strange and surreal, but fantastic nonetheless. My SO seems to have family that lives virtually all over the world, and he just so happens to have a lot of family that lives in Texas. I got to meet some of his family, though we'd been leaving 30mins away from each other without even knowing. I would never have had the guts to go meet them alone. We didn't really have any concrete plans for his visit. In the winter time, even in Texas, there's hardly anything to do. In Houston specifically we usually get the dreariest, wettest, most disgusting weather ever during winter time. I would honestly prefer that it snow instead of just being overcast, icey, and cold.
We did nothing but watch movies and cuddle, pretty much. We saw a movie too, Jack Reacher... I wish I kept those ticket stubs. The worse and most unbearable part was him leaving. I will never forget that feeling.

My SO and I had met each other online. A short while after that we started texting constantly, and then we started talking on the phone and realized we had the warm fuzzies for each other. I was out of state due to some family circumstances (long story... Can't live with'em, can't work with'em and they can't suddenly turn up missing...) anyway, I was down at my brother's house in Florida. We were staying there until my family could find a rental place to move back to in Nebraska. By this time my now SO and I had been texting for several weeks and talked on the phone nonstop. It eventually came time for my family to start making the final arrangements and the final trips up to South Carolina to take care of some other issues that had risen in all of this mess. When I found out I would be up there I had texted my SO and told her I had a surprise for her and I wanted her to try to guess what it was. She guessed that I was finally coming up to see her. I told her yes and we left it at that. The next day my mom and I made trip number 1 up to South Carolina to fix and resolve some family issues that were going on. When I crossed the state line and was about 100 miles out from where I was going, I texted her and let her know. She told me she would get ready and do what she had to do as she lived 45 minutes from where I lived in Carolina. I told her that sounded like a good plan and I told her I would text her when I was about 50 miles out to let her know she could head out. Well the time came and passed... I was in town, and she was in town. I was just trying to get my family to let me off the hook for the night and go have some time to myself. I finally got away and went and met her at the mall. She had me come in and find her. I went in and after walking around entire perimeter of target twice, I texted her asking her where she was at. She said she seen me pass the section she was in and that I needed to make my way back to the baby section. I finally found her a few minutes later... When we seen each other we got giddy and excited and said our hello's and gave each other hugs. We ended up leaving the mall and I asked her if she wanted to go get ice cream. She said that sounded like a great idea. So I took her for ice cream. We sat at the ice cream shop and laughed and talked the entire time. She played the shy card so I had to keep the conversation going.. I didn't want that night to end but it was getting late, She had to work in the morning and I had to help pack and move furniture all day. So we decided I'd take her back to her car. We walked hand in hand to my car and she held my hand the entire drive back to her car. took her back to her car and we said our goodbyes. I thanked her for coming and seeing me and again told her how glad I was to finally be able to meet her and see her in person. We stood there for awhile, both of us ultimately just trying to procrastinate and avoid leaving each other. So we stood there for awhile wrapped up in each other's arms, starring into each other's eyes, and exchanging a few hugs and kisses.
The next and final visit I had with her before I moved away was similar to the first.. She insisted on driving into town and seeing me since I could only have a vehicle to use for a couple hours during the evening since I had sold my car and my parent's needed to use my replacement car for a few things that evening. I was originally going to go see her, But I had to stay in town god forbid my phone were to ring and my parents called to tell me they needed my car or needed me for something. By the time I had finished moving, loading, and packing everything with my family it was quite late. I really wanted to take her to dinner, but she had already eaten and everything was closed because it was a Sunday night. I went and picked her up over at the mall again. I unfortunately didn't have much money in my pocket from losing my job when my family blew up with each other and got into a nasty fight. So I decided I would show her around town. I took her for a drive and showed her where I use to work, Where I use to live, and the hot spots that I hung out at and shot pool at every weekend and a couple times throughout the week. It was still fairly early and I didn't have to have my vehicle back to my parents for them to use, and I had made it clear that I was going out to say goodbye and spend some time with a girl I had met and I didn't want to be disturbed.. It was another Sunday night and everything was again closed up early because of church, So I asked her if she would like to go hang out down at the park. She said that sounded like a great idea. So off we went to the park. When we got there, I opened up the back of my car so we had a place to sit. We sat and talked for awhile. I could see in her body language that she was a little nervous to make a move.. So I scooted closer to her and wrapped my arms around her. When I wrapped my arm around her, I sat there in silence with her and just starred into her eyes with a big smile on my face. We sat there quietly for awhile until I broke the silence. I could tell she was down about me leaving so I assured her I would text her and call her as much as I could on the 2 day journey to Nebraska and that once I got there we'd set a routine so we'd talk on the phone at least once a day and text the rest of the time until I got settled. She smiled and gave me a kiss. Things were getting extremely emotional and neither of us could really help it. I told her that I remember her telling me she wanted to dance, But was self conscious about it. Well nobody was in the park but us, So I turned my car on and put on a soft song and turned it up. We spent the next 30 minutes wrapped up in each other's arms slow dancing in the moonlight. After we danced, We had a long goodbye. When one of us would start letting go the other one of us would squeeze them tighter, or anytime one of us would go to let go, We'd pull each other back in and just stand wrapped up in each other's arms while we exchanged kisses.

I don't have a long detailed cute story like that butttt....
We waited EIGHTTTT whole years before meeting. I've known my SO for about 10 years now. We were dating for a year and a but LD before we finally met. He flew out to Vancouver and spend two weeks with me. He flew from New Orleans to Seattle and took a shuttle up. The shuttle dropped him off at a hotel downtown and that's where I met him. I was sooooo nervous when I saw him walking towards me, I didn't know what to do or say. He gave me a HUGEEEEE hug and I literally could not breathe. We walked towards the subway stop and he would NOT shut up, haha.. nerves, I guess. :P
We spent an amazing two weeks doing everything Vancouver has to offer. The tears started the second day he was here just cuz I knew he'd be leaving eventually, silly of me, I know. :P[CENTER]
