Why is it hard to talk about?

I feel like I only really talk about my SO to my closest friends--those who have met him and those who are more understanding lol. But yeah one time I was having lunch with a girl who I'm not that close with, but we haven't seen each other in forever..and she saw my background picture of my so and I and asked about him. I just said "it's a long story" and kind of brushed it off

If it is relevant to the conversation I'll mention my SO. It's never been a big deal to me. He's a part of my life and I won't hide that just because someone doesn't approve.

I certainly don't hide it. Everyone knows about us. I do bring things up if they're relevant, I guess it's because a lot of my friends show a lack of interest. Which is pretty unfair considering the HOURS I've listened to them about their SO's or even just people they're only talking to and aren't even in a relationship. I don't have a problem listening to them, just the one way street factor to it.
