"I was thinking about something along those lines, but this is what I came up with:
    1. Crush
    2. First Date
    3. Going Steady
    4. Newlywed
    5. I couldn't think of how to decently word this one. "

i like this one alot... instead of 4 being Newlywed it could be Afianced and then Newlywed.... because there is that engaged step between going steady and being married.

still don't have an idea for the titles, but the hearts look great

          I definitely like the hearts
And I thought Gurl had some pretty good ideas! Sorry, I don't really have any suggestions....but I'm not a big fan of the 'stages of relationship' or celebrity couples. Hmm, I'll have to think about it

Me & Tanja are working on a idea we've both just stumbled across by accident, it could work

And it shouldn't offend anyone either

Ok so this is our idea

It's a list using LFAD as the pre-fix of an adjective. It's really simple but we like it

It came about after I asked Tanja what she was up to as we were chatting on MSN and she said LFAD ao i said "you're an LFADdict! " and she said I should post that in this thread... and here we are a brain-storming session together later

We spent quite a while thinking of descriptive words starting with A or D so that they'd work then narrowed it down to 5...

              Although as Michelle said this:

Originally posted by admin View Post

              2 hearts = 50
              3 hearts = 100
              4 hearts = 200
              5 hearts = 300

and then the badges begin at 400.

I still want to change the member rank titles. I've already created the newbie title for people with less than 10 posts.

I assume there's room for more than 5 titles...

Anyways, this is what we ended up with:

              1. LFADapter (adapter) - the first step after newbie for somone adapting to the forum
              2. LFADiscussor (discussor) - someone who's more involved and has been more active in the forum discussions
              3. LFADvocate (advocate) - after 100 posts they're surely someone who's an advocate of the forum
              4. LFADevotee (devotee) - a devoted member of the community
              5. LADdict (addict) - totally addicted!

We originally had LDRookie (rookie) as the number 1 spot but this could imply someone who was inexperienced in long-distance relationships and also we found LFAD easier to work with as a pre-fix.

Other ideas we had for the earlier stages (1 & 2) were:

LFADwarf (dwarf) - possibly offensive though
LFADumpling (dumpling) - we were struggling at this point lol
              LFADisciple (disciple) - too religious?
LFADopted (adopted) - I thought this one was ok, as in an adopted member of the community, still new and familiarising him/herself with their new family

For level 3 we were thinking:

LFADmirer (admirer) - admirer of the forum
LFADept (adept) - adept at posting in the forum
LFADextrous (dexterous) - Tanja didn't think this was suitable as people wouldn't know what it meant, but I think it's ok. You can be mentally dexterous as well as dexterous with your hands. (Think dexterity test or ambidextrous if you're not sure what it means Or just Google it )
LFADeft (deft) - deft means agile or clever, so this could work ok too.
              LFADecent (decent) - self-explanatory again.

              For levels 4 & 5:

LFADherent (adherent) - means supporter or follower
LFADvanced (advanced) - the rest of these are self-explanatory too.
              LFADiamond (diamond)
              LFADynamite (dynamite)
              LFADmired (admired)

So there you go. Like I said with Michelle mentioning the badges, you could probably merge a couple of other suggestions in depending on how many badges there are. I particularly like LFADopted, LFADept, LFADmired and LFADiamond from the ones we omitted, but I think the vast majority of them could work really well

So what do you all think?

Wow that's much longer than I expected! But I think the idea itself is pretty good and we did spend some 2 hours doing the list so if you don't like it, at least be kind with your words

I like this idea a lot!

Like I said the hearts are separate from the member ranks, so we can have both the hearts and these titles.

                      0 hearts = newbie
1 heart = LFADapter (I personally think admirer would be better what do you think?)
                      2 hearts = LFADiscussor
                      3 hearts = LFADvocate
                      4 hearts = LFADevotee
                      5 hearts = LFADdict

LFADdict would remain the top rank, and the badges would only change after that. An example of the badge is 500+ Posts! It would replace the hearts and the purpose is just to have it stand out more, so people are more recognized for their participation.

Yeah I think admirer does work better looking back, Michelle - it's also a love/relationship related word too. Perfect

Oh! I messed up doing it. You weren't a newbie, you had actually "graduated" to junior member... but I messed up editing the ranks... hold
