I am now SERIOUSLY counting down the days until I hop that Greyhound and head north to the mountains of Pa on the 22 of December!! Last year,we were in the same home for the holidays, and I was so stuck on "Oh we have no money for the holidays" and "Oh poor me.." This year, after living again in a LDR, the best and only present I care about is getting to spend almost two weeks together, and working on pulling our families (parents n such) back together again... I am so excited just to see each other, and almost two weeks worth??... AWESOME SAUCE!!! Soooo, I was just wondering what everyone's plans are whether or not you get to see each other, and how you're feeling about your LDR during the holidays??... Blessings!!

We already got a thread for this https://members.lovingfromadistance....-their-SO-lt-3
Check the visit section next time, that's what it's there for.

Yeah, there's that other thread ...
I'm counting down myself! I just can't wait! This will be our first Christmas together and we will be hosting his mom and a few other family members for Christmas dinner. They will take their special dishes too so all the cooking won't just be on us. I'm nervous about this, but we hosted a family dinner during the summer and that was a success so we'll be just fine. *fingers crossed*Met Online : July 2013

And also, I posted in that thread, but as I read through it myself, I kind of felt that the flow of the thread was corrupted, and that wasn't exactly what I asked.. There are many couples not able to get together this time of year, and sometimes we all need to talk about it.. Mine is more a question of what is everyone doing for the holidays, not so much are you spending it with someone..

Holidays here are usually spent at my parents house. Me & my daughters and my sister, brother-in-law and niece usually arrive late morning. I make a breakfast casserole. The kids get to open stockings as soon as they arrive. Presents follow breakfast and then we have a ham dinner. This year we may take in a movie Christmas night. My SO is really going to try to make it, so that would make it even more special as it will be our first Christmas together. To those who dream, nothing is ever far away.

Christmas is usually spent at my parents' house. On the 23rd, the tree is decorated and gifts put under it, and the first preperations for Christmas dinner is made. In the morning on the 24th, kids (or the young at heart) see some special cartoons /movies only shown this time of year, while the dinner preperations start. For breakfast there is usually something extra, like lots of cheeses, smoked salmon and roastbeef. . Some people have stockings, too, and it is the last day of the Christmas calender. Then there is church. After church, preperations for dinner continues. My family usually have lamb roast or raindeer roast with potatoes, rich sauce, jam and a variety of vegetables, with rice dessert with an almond in it (to play a game). After dinner there is cakes and chocolate. We dance around the tree and sing songs. Then we start opening the gifts. That takes forever, as we are usually 12 people (our family and my aunt's family)... If we have Cristmas at my aunt's house, my uncle will make a traditional fatty lamb dish (involving cooking with wooden sticks) and we will eat stews and drink aquavit. If with my inlaws, we will eat a pork dish and aquavit (I have gone there about every other year). I will make Christmas dinner for the first time this year, the plan is to make raindeer roast, hope all goes well... The 25thand 26th is church too, then on 27th there is a big gathering with another aunt and her family. I usually see some friends, celebrate my birthday and NYE.
SO is a Muslim (although according to himself, he "doesn't care much about Muslim things ", he has never celebrated Christmas. We will not be together over the holidays as he is working and I promised my mum to do Christmas here, but maybe some other year.Last edited by differentcountries; December 7, 2014, 10:41 AM.I made love to him only twice, she thought and looked at the man laying asleep beside her. And yet still it is as if we have been together forever, as if he has always known my life, my soul, my body, my light, my pain

On 24th we'll do some Christmas brownies (I love to cook with him!), then we'll spend Christmas day with all my family at our family friend's home or my dad's home. On 27 we'll have two birthdays! My dad one at lunch and my friend's one in a club in the night. On 28 another birthday, on 31 we'll celebrate I guess in the square of my city, they usually do little lives and fireworks at midnight I'll finally kiss the one I love under the fireworks at midnight (what a hopeless romantic.) And I booked a hotel room for that night
Then on 3d Jen is my mom's birthday. And we have to find a free day to have our special dinner, the gift my mother and my sis will give us (those smartbox stuff)
Im so excited!Last edited by Cristiana; December 7, 2014, 01:41 PM.

We are working our butts off and hoping santa brings lots of money this Christmas lol
Also, hoping we can work in-law visits around our crazy work schedules so we don't end up on the naughty list!

We are going to go over to my man's father and his new wife on the 20th, exchange gifts and have dinner with them, then on the 24th at around noontime, we will skype with my family while they have their dinner and we will have lunch to be with them and then we'll watch them open gifts / we'll open gifts we have for each other. On the 25th we're going over to his brother-in-law's place to celebrate Christmas with their side of the family, exchange gifts and have dinner

Hmmm... not visits. Actually we're going to miss our first Christmas together, but that doesn't bother me. We have plans to meet for the very first time in spring. But as for the holidays... we are going to send a gift to each other it bugs him to no end, but I am going to spoil him. by the time we set a budget for the holidays, I had already ordered his gifts. (One for Christmas one for his b-day)
