lol if my parents had that reaction to me flying anywhere on my own, they would have had a fit by now - I have enough 210,000 avios points, and I think only 2 trips have been with some-one else with me. Most the destinations I flew to the first time I had no idea about, or even spoke the language in a number of cases!
Sorry that it is causing you issues, I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune, but the world is a much safer place than some people seem to believe it is, and you seem more than sensible enough to have your wits about you, to not put yourself in a position of danger - as that is usually what happens!
I think it is childish and petty your mum has said there are 'consequences' but won't tell you what they are - she is behaving like she is the child here not you. and while it is not going to be easy to tell her that - I would do just that if it were me!
