How to make a video?

Hey all,

Does anyone know how to make a video for someone? I know how to record videos on my iphone and send them through imessage or whatsapp.

But I wanted to make a long one and I know that its so annoying sending over email/ whatsapp because the files get too big I think on whatsapp it only allows 3 minutes.

If you upload to you tube can it be private so only your SO or someone can see? Any other methods out there? I will be using my iphone to record it and I do have a mac laptop so does she if that makes a difference at all. (however I am useless at my mac!)

Uploading to YouTube is the only thing I know for sharing. I've used Windows movie maker before. It crashed a lot while I was doing it, nearly lost stuff several times. It was a 5 minute long video for class. Came out super nice, but it was a lot of work. I'm sure there are other movie maker programs out there but don't really have a direction to point you Other than what I've said.

Use google drive! You can change the settings on it so only people with the link to the video can watch it. Also, you can try dropbox. As long as the video isn't gigantic in size, it should be fine. I have an android, so I'm not entirely sure what file format iphones save in. If it's .mp4, you can always re-save the video in imovie as a .mov. It'll compress the movie a little, but it'll also make the file size smaller.

You can make it to where only persons with the link can see it on youtube.

I sometimes record videos on Skype, if for instance you have Skype on your phone or a small laptop you can bring it with you to do the recording. I have also recorded videos over a program, no problem sending the recordings on mail. I don't remember the name but I got it from here I believe. I only did like 4-10 minute long videos as I was recording songs, but I don't think there was any limit to the lenght.

On youtube when you upload a video. You can set it as unlisted. That way it can only be seen by those who have the link. It won't show up in your videos for others nor in any search.

You both could also get Dropbox accounts and make a shared folder for you as a couple. I share the occasional video with my SO that way. Since only people who you invited to be in your folder or people you directly send the link to can see the video in your Dropbox, it's a rather private method.

Dropbox or YouTube are the best options by far. YouTube's privacy settings allow only those you share the video's link with to see it, which is pretty handy.
