I know daytime TV like Maury has episodes where if the kids are screaming about wanting kids, he'll make them take care of infants for a few hours and they come out "oh hell naw" about it. Can't say if it's real or not, I'm sure some of the stuff they put on during work hours like that is scripted, but it's a nice idea. And I know some parenting classes at schools have those fake babies you take care of for a week that record video and voices so the teacher can evaluate what you've done with it. The thing cries if it's left alone x amount of minutes/hours and you have to either comfort it like a real baby or stick a key in the back to show you've paid attention. I messed with one my sophomore year and I found them kinda fun and easy, but I'd been around my cousin since she was a few months' old so I knew the basics of infant care.

Yeah I am 22 and no where near ready for children. For a moment I thought "How is she going to afford this child?", then it hit me, oh yes, of course the state will pay for these kinds of cases (at least in America). What a very sad situation. I hope that she and the baby will be healthy though.

I hope everything works out with your sister and the baby, I'd be really concerned about her health and safety during the birth process. My friend who does NICU/ high risk birth nursing sees 13 years olds giving birth all the time, sadly. I just feel for them and whatever got them in that situation... at 13 you don't realize all of the work and money that goes into a child.

Eternity: I actually had a neighbor in my old apartment who let their child do that hungry/need a change newborn scream for over 4 hours two nights in a row. On the second night we tried to knock on their door, with no answer. I called the police department because I was worried. They tried banging on the door, and all sorts of stuff, and finally had to slice the lock to get in. Turns out the father put in noise canceling earphones and went to sleep so he could ignore his baby! I could believe it! And these were twentysomethings!

There's a reason I moved from that place...

oh wow.... 13 is pretty much hardcore... but I honestly wouldnt keep the baby at this age... for the sake of myself I mean like she has nothing O_o
Plus her childhood ends there, not to mention the teenagerness... Aside from her bein sorta kinda experienced in some ways.
                But thats my opinion. :S
                All the best tho

If you're talking about my story, it was definitely a real child. A real, hungry, lonely infant.

Once again. We are speaking about a girl who were dating 15-year olds at 9. Who partied like crazy at 10. Who was a drugdealer at 11. Who went to jail at 12 and now apparently is pregnant at 13.
The supposed father i've met and he's very nice actually. He's 16 but to his defense, my SO's sister lied about her age. And honestly if i were to meet her on the street i would atleast think from start she's 17 and if she told me she was 20 i would believe her. And even if he broke the law it wouldn't help us very much to lock away the dad when there is a source of help.
About the economic situation our biggest hope now lies with the child just becoming an addition to their current family. In other words almost as getting a sibling.
I've helped raise two children through their 4 first years so fortunately i have extensive and recent experience of us three now who will handle the situation. I don't trust the dad that's why i took charge of the situation. If i had to i would get over to their place and babysit the child every single day, which i probably will.
She is still very lucky that, even though what she's done and how she acts, she still got support and people willing to help her. I know enough about children that i can tell you that i will not allow that child to suffer.

Even though i know i have some serious emotional problems :P
But that's a story for another time.
I'm just not 200% concerned about this whole situation, or atleast not yet. My gf's sister might not fully understand what it means to take care of a baby, but i do and i'm still not that concerned yet.

That was my initial reaction too.
But i've been trying to change her i suppose in my role as her sisters bf and all.
She looks up to me, when her mood is right :P she got heavy mood changes. She calls me brother, because she both sees me as her brother and ofc that she wants me and her sister to get married and then i would be her brother-in-law :P So far i've made some progress, even though noone could really stop her from getting pregnant.
Anyway i've stopped getting shocked about what she does and stopped thinking "Why? How is that possible?" and just accept facts. My gf still is asking "How can she be so stupid?". My answer to that is "Sure it's stupid, but what does that help us now to punish and push her down for this". The exact same way as i didn't yell at her when she told me, even though parts of me really wanted.
