Hey all! It's been so long since I've gotten the chance to see you lovely people. I have very good news for you all, that is sadly tainted with a bit of bad news.
After over five years LD, I finally have managed to get my work visa to legally move from the US to Canada, which I intend to do by March of next year. As to be expected, it comes with some financial stipulations - I need to have a bare minimum of $2,500 CAD in reach before I make the move, which is understandable. I had the money saved back and I was steadily adding to it, but lo and behold, I lost my job and since I did not have a rainy day fund in check (all that money came from my tax return), I I sadly had to use it all to tide myself over until I found a new job, which I did.
Sadly, my present job hardly pays me enough to save much as well, and I have an additional burden that recently developed. I intended on just getting a second job for the sole purpose of raising money to save towards moving expenses to be with the boyfriend, but I ended up having something very horrible happen to me, medically, in the form of Ciprofloxacin toxicity syndrome. It has severely affected my nerves and tendons, and since my present job is physical, I can hardly even stand to do my current job, let along taking on another, even if it's only for 10-20 hours a week - there is a chance that if this ends up getting worse, I may not be able to work at all (but let's just keep on the bright side shall we?) This has devastated me financially, as I've had to go to the doctor's multiple times without insurance and that is eating away at my money. I'm feeling helpless and I don't know what to do, or how to start saving up money to get to $2,500 CAD (which, last I checked, was about $1,900 US but that may have changed).
Does anyone have any ideas of how to raise money from home that they have tried? Is making a crowdfunding website like GoFundMe and advertising it on here allowed by the rules? I don't want to lose the only chance I got to close the distance and be with him due to a measly (in the grand scheme of things) $1,900, since the deadline to get into the country for me is March 18th, and then the visa goes out the window. Any ideas would be appreciated.
