So, I never contact my boyfriend first.. It's always him who do it. We already talked about this, and he told me that it was bothering him but.. I won't change because I am this way. This is not because I care less about him, this is just because I have more ego and I don't want to write or ask for a call first. I know I need to work on this, but it isn't related to my love for him.

With my S/O, I usually am the one to call first. Because she is not a big talker on the phone. She will call back if we get disconnected for some reason. Do I think she needs to work on that, no. Because, Then I would start looking for the little things that might bother me. So I won't do that. Also, I accept her regardless. She likes tv soaps, I don't. But I will watch them with her. While she won't watch M*A*S*H. Her reaction about it is classic. It leaves me rolling on the floor laughing.
What has ego got to do with it. That sounds like, you are going by some pre-conceived notion or societal standard of men are supposed to this/that, and women are supposed to do this/that.
