Does this make me look desperate?

I met a guy online and we really clicked. We had been messaging for a month on the site and recently started skyping and texting, so I know that this guy is not fake. He doesn't have the means at the moment to come visit me. We set up a day, the only thing holding me back from going is searching for a cheaper air ticket (yes he does live kinda far away). I have dated w/in my area w/no luck and I am willing to reach out a little farther to find someone. Does this make me look desperate? He is totally open to me coming down to see him btw.

Nah. Give it a try if you like. You don't have to rush either. Just go for a friendly meeting and see if you actually click. A month might sound long but a lot can change in the months and years to follow. You may not know him as well as you think with just one month of communication either. Honestly, I didn't feel confident that I really knew my girlfriend well until after maybe 6 months of daily communication. Just keep your expectations tame. Be happy if it works out well, if it doesn't, it's ok. Keep contact, maybe try asking him if he has any interest in an LDR eventually. Depending on how far apart you guys are, this is probably something that's going to take time. You'll need a lot of patience if you both go for it.

    Be safe. Good luck.

At least you're still looking in the States. If that makes you desperate I'm not sure what I and Lijie are. If you find someone good for you, I honestly don't think distance matters. The question remains if you are good for each other. It takes time to see.

    Good luck.
    First contact: March, 2014
    Official LDR: June, 2014
    Married since: August, 2017

Where will you be staying? Best to get a hotel and stay there. Also be sure to let people know where you are etc. 30 days is really not that long in the grand scheme of things. Always have a back up plan in case you don't click Irl.
      Have fun!

Since the plane ride is only about 2 hours, I am actually just going down for the day.

I met my partner through a dating site. One of my closest friends encouraged me to meet sooner, rather than later. Advice on dating sites did too. Their argument was that it's better to find out ahead of time than to invest more time into someone without meeting them face to face. Be safe, and go meet this person.

I don't want to spend weeks/months wondering about the person, I would like to know quite soon so that I don't end up wasting time/emotion on someone I may not even get along w/.
