I thought about everyone here a lot over the past month and things were so crazy busy with SO moving across the country... So just know I did think of everyone over the holidays b/c it is very tough being apart as it is, let alone over the holidays!!
I flew out 12/9 to Norfolk VA (from Phoenix) and then started our drive back to Phx. Had a WONDERFUL trip!! so many people kept telling me that drive would be a true test of our relationship and funny thing is I never felt tested at all. It was easy, fun and relaxing.
We got back in time for his mom's visit. She stayed at my house, my youngest bunked with my oldest so she had his room. My parents had a small Christmas party while she was here and everyone got along great! My ex's mother was ... well, let's just say I'm glad she's out of my life as well LOL. After her 2nd day with us, I started calling her mom b/c it felt so comfortable! Ok... I had to stop mid-post and send her a quick hello email LOL
We had an awesome Christmas! He was so handsome in uniform ❤ at church. People came up to us after mass, shook his hand... one couple came up to us, and while SO was talking to the husband, (elderly couple) the wife turned to my kids and asks "awe, are you boys proud of your daddy?" they giggled and said "oh yea" we all laughed about it. Another lady sitting by my parents asked them if he was their son or son in law. My mom responded, neither right now, but we're hopeful!! 🙂 This past Friday, we left for the west coast, completing our coast to coast road trip... it was raining, all day all night there. We had a quiet new year. We had planned to just take a walk around base and watch for fireworks, but it rained all night... we got caught out in it after our late lunch and it ruined my phone. So, NY day we went and I got a new phone so I didn't drive home alone without one. Luckily, NY day was sunny, it was still cold, but sunny... so we went to the Beach and spent the afternoon walking along the ocean. Was very lovely!! We intended to watch the sunset, but the clouds and rain had other plans for us, so no sunset. But, all in all, we had a wonderful 3 1/2 wks together! I am so in love with him! He is the most kind, gentle, caring man I have ever met!
The only "fight" we had was NYeve when we were drinking in our hotel room. He missed the toilet when he went to pee and I cleaned it up... mainly b/c he "refused" to do it. I momentarily lost my cool about it, but chalked it up to the fact that we were pretty buzzed. The next morning he apologized profusely and I told him if we'd have been at home, I wouldn't have yelled at him, I would have made him sleep on the couch LOL The look on his face was priceless!
When I left to drive back to Phx, that was THE hardest good bye ever!! We all know good byes are hard, and they are nothing we aren't used to, but this time... knowing he is going to be deployed was a rip in my heart unlike anything I had ever felt!! I cried the whole way home. The uncertainty... omg!
The good news was that since we checked in on a holiday weekend, they couldn't give him any details. Now, he is isn't sure exactly when he is going to fly out to the ship, so if he is still on base this weekend, I'm taking my kids out with me and see him again. They put him in this tiny room with no TV, no wifi, no private bathroom... he said he feels like he's back in boot camp LOL
guess I should have made this a blog LOL
