I think if you think this is now painful cause you miss her so much, know it’d even be much more painful if you break up and never speak to each other again, which is okay if you really want to break up, but ask yourself if this is break up worthy?

When you’re as young as you are (no disrespect) you don’t really see what is important in a relationship yet, you’re still learning about what you specifically want and need in a partner. Circumstances and geography can change (and also come on, New York and Maryland are so freaking close, there are people on here on literally opposite sides of the world.)

Just ask her about how she’s feeling, ask her if she misses you like you miss her, that doesn’t seem needy or something she wouldn’t like, she’d probably feel flattered and will appreciate it.

Last comment, be very sure if you want to end it before you tell her or try it, once she knows it’s possible there will be this bitter taste in her mouth towards you, she won’t feel safe even if you still stay together after that, that breakup talk does hurt deep and ruin things once it’s out there, the dynamic of the relationship will change. You both will be looking over your shoulders.
