About 2 days before mine I get extremely happy and hyper and completely full of energy and I can't stop smiling at all. Then when it starts I suddenly go all down, and it doesn't take alot to upset me. I'll be fine until something happens to upset me, then when i'm on my period it'll upset me alot more and i'd have a bigger reaction to it. But I'll also get more happy at things that would normally cheer me up. I get quite alot of pain with mine, the first day is the worst and i just want to curl up in a ball with a hot water bottle clutched to my stomach, so that can also make me grouchy and snappish at people cause of the pain.

I was moody....eh I am always moody...I was more short on patience right before...usually 2 days before...and I knew it was about to start.
I agree that ALL women are different because hormones effect us all differently.
Me personally, my libido kicks into overdrive a few days before, and lasts through out. I break out , and my oral fixation goes nuts, so popsicles galore. I get super tired as well and usually end up napping. I cry pretty easily as well, but knowing its just pms helps me cut myself slack.

I know Michelle gets upset or is a little more emotional (sad, sensitive, shows her feelings more) a couple days before her time. It is hard for me to remember sometimes that I should be more understanding during this time and let things role off my back. The good thing, at least, is that Michelle also realizes that this happens to an extent, so she will either try to avoid unleashing on me, or she will apologize.
I guess as guys, we just have to keep mindful of how they are feeling and be accepting. I guess you could look on the bright side and be glad that they are feeling and able to get that way, if you know what I mean. The month that they don't could be a lot more emotional.

I usually get really mad at everything for no reason. But, if I know that it's "that time of the month" I usually apologize to the boyfriend cause he doesn't deserve that. Sometimes, though, I get more depressed than normal, really weak. And then there's those really rare, but still often times when I want to "do stuff" if you get my drift. Usually, though, I always make sure to patch up everything between me & my SO before we say goodnight.

Thanks so much for all these replies! Looking back on last night I think I probably just let it get to me more than I should have, I'd been feeling a bit down for a couple of hours beforehand too so that didn't help. I can't even remember the comment that made me feel like I did now...
Anyway, as so many of you guys have pointed out it's not a nice or easy thing to go through. I'd like to think I am understanding, I do take all these things into account which is why I just said goodnight rather than say something back. Things always look better in the morning anyway...
And as Frank said, I tend to let more things slide, I can usually tell when she says something she doesn't really mean, not blurt it out as such, but maybe not thinking too much before she speaks. And it's not as if she says horrible things anyway!
It's just me being sensitive
Plus she's been working so hard lately and getting up so early just so she can come home to me earlier, I felt so guilty when she was waking up this morning, she was SOOOOOOOO tired
I agree with everyone who said about using it as an excuse. She doesn't do this at all, and she never complains about her cramps even though I know she's in agony
We've actually joked about the using it as an excuse thing not long ago - I said I wouldn't be standing for any of that heheIn a relationship with

Although I don't know how it feels on the guy's side of things, I think it's hard on everyone involved when it's that time of the month. I know I feel guilty when I overreact or say something I shouldn't, and Will tries so hard to be patient with me. It sounds like both of you make every effort to counteract as much as you can in that situation though. That's really all you can ask for. I have the odd urge to say Go Andy and Tanja now lol

Yeah I think we do pretty well tbh after reading some of the posts here, it sounds like she could be a lot worse than she is. She's so great, I do love her

My poor baby has to stand all my mood changes!!! Before I was on the pill I would get kind of aggresive or easily angry the few days before the period. Now that I am on the pill it feels like the angerness grew a little. But mostly it is PMS, the week before the period. I would be angry about anything that normally wouldn't make me angry. It drives me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha nice one, everyone knows I have my periods now!
Oh well
I don't have much to add really, except that I agree with Zephii that periods shouldn't be used as an excuse when you say/do something stupid or irrational.
I don't ever do that really, I'll just suck my cramps up but they've been getting loads worse in the past 2-3 years so I'm kinda worried they'll keep getting more painful until I won't be able to move and I'm not very nice to others when I'm in a lot of pain
Sex always helps though

everyone responds differently. I personally get a lil extra emotional but other than that doesnt really affect me, although that may be down to the contraceptive pill i take although dont remember being that bad before them, but i do have friends who get mega stressed and emotional on their period. So i suppose depends on the person and situation really.
Also she must have been real tired after the long hours.....and as the saying goes "you take things out on the ones you love"
