Im in Australia and my SO is in the USA we had a trip booked for May (which included a cruise lol so double whammy) which will not go ahead now. That would have marked 6 months apart and I was counting down the days until the trip. It was also the first time our kids were going to meet which was exciting. 6 months is hard. I dont know when we will see each other again due to the virus. It makes it difficult not knowing a date you can count down to, having definite plans always makes it easier. But we will get through this. We will plan another trip as soon as we see things returning to normal. But it will be hard apart. Thats why I joined this forum to share stories and get support from people who understand. Im sorry for everyone else thats had to cancel plans also. My goal now is to find some more creative ways of spending our time together. Now is not the time for doubt. Now is the time to be strong and be there for your partner. Now is the time to love them more than ever ❤️

Some good news amid the chaos
I know we've been bombarded with constant bad news and typical media sensationalism concerning the virus issue. But a friend sent me some good news:
-China has closed down its last coronavirus hospital. Not enough new cases to support them.
- Doctors in India have been successful in treating Coronavirus. Combination of drugs used: Lopinavir, Retonovir, Oseltamivir along with Chlorphenamine. They are going to suggest same medicine, globally.
- Researchers of the Erasmus Medical Center claim to have found an antibody against coronavirus.
- A 103-year-old Chinese grandmother has made a full recovery from COVID-19 after being treated for 6 days in Wuhan, China.
- Apple reopens all 42 china stores
- Cleveland Clinic developed a COVID-19 test that gives results in hours, not days.
- In South Korea the number of new cases is declining.
- Italy is hit hard, experts say, only because they have the oldest population in Europe.
- Scientists in Israel likely to announce the development of a coronavirus vaccine.
- 3 Maryland coronavirus patients fully recovered; able to return to everyday life.
- A network of Canadian scientists are making excellent progress in Covid-19 research.
- A San Diego biotech company is developing a Covid-19 vaccine in collaboration with Duke University and National University of Singapore.
- Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

I don't think anyone can say anything for sure on that yet, given that for a lot of countries it's really only been a couple of weeks at most (is it even quite that for Italy? can't remember when they shut down) that the lockdowns/restrictions have been in place, and that's exactly the wrong time period in which to be able to assess how much they have reduced the spread (because of the incubation period there are always going to be new cases showing up in the first few days of any lockdown anyway when people only started showing symptoms after it).

I phoned my travel agent on Monday (I'm supposed to be with my SO right now in the USA... want to cry again) and he said the first flights are scheduled for 1st June. I dare not book for end of June though... I just daren't. Bearing in mind events over the Summer (Glastonbury to name one) have been cancelled.......
The unknowing is horrible. If we knew it was going to be September, say, we'd be pissed off, but at least we'd know.
For us, we'd planned to meet after 9 months apart. By that point things were rough, and I decided not to visit. Now we've split up, and he doesn't know if he wants to get back together. So, 9 months was too much for us. It's now been over a year that we saw each other, and I have no idea what I'm meant to do now.
I will readily admit that I am breaking apart.
With that in mind, my advice would be to meet as much as possible, lest you go the same way. Do whatever you can to work on your relationship whilst you're apart.
It's much like being on a rollercoaster of unknown duration. But we still talk.
I'm not sure there is much that anyone can do, really. Myself included.
I'm working on it. I had an in person therapy session, and a phone check in with my DBT therapist as well today. So I think they have me covered.

I am at work right now actually, with an office of 13 ladies in close proximity. There are only 2 cases in my county right now but my job does not plan on closing. If I am told to go home, I have to use my personal vacation to get paid, or not get paid at all. I commend the businesses that are closing but still paying their employees.
Are you not able to be temporarily laid off and collect unemployment? My job has offered this for now but I can't live off of unemployment as a single mother.. so here I am taking that risk. Praying that the govt. decides to send those stimulus checks soon.

My SO was supposed to come early May, but the borders are closed and unless this all clears up super fast it doesn't look like that's happening. The worst part is he doesn't even really seem to be sad about it. I'm devastated because if we have to wait until summer it will have been nearly a year since we've seen each other.
I was supposed to go on Bildungskarenz during which I was going to visit my SO in the US to see if I wanted to move there. Now, due to the pandemic, everything has been canceled. So, we aren't going to see each other for a while which is not that big a deal, because we can deal with long distance ok. However, I'm reconsidering me moving to US since I can see that it's not a good idea to move there with a very apparent lack of social safety net. I'm also doubtful that leadership will actually change things when the crisis is over. For now I'm sitting back and watching, since I can do nothing else staying home.
During this time I see all these couples being quarantined at home together saying, yay we now have more time for one another and stuff like that and it really frustrates me that I can't be one of those couples being able to spend more time with my SO. He is also afraid to travel even by car so I won't even be getting a visit from him over the summer because he said it will be a couple months before he travels anywhere again. Anyway, I just really miss him as anyone would.
