Gonna get married on her birthday!!!!!

I was directed to a visa that was more up our alley which is a settlement visa, which basically means i can just apply for that and when they accept it just move in with her, only catch is we have to get married(civil partnership) over in the UK to apply which we are gonna do April 4th!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I have been waiting so long for something to happen like this, i didnt know how we would do this but i firmly believe we have found a way to be together under one roof forever!!!! im so excited!!!! With that being said i find the UK has more options for same sex couples then the US does, because they have a variety of visa's for same sex couples the US has non of that which confuses me really :/ but im so happy and excited we found a way to do this!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Well atleast you guys can be together in the meantime and hopefully the immigration laws will change here soon so you guys can come back. No, I wish she was in the UK...she is in South America. She is applying to schools over here and Canada, so hopefully she will be closer soon. I don't understand how all the other countries have all these LGBT rights but the US doesn't. That seems backwards to me.

                              Ah that's so exciting!!

Unfortunately, part of the reason US laws are so slow to change is that groups who oppose the changes are very good at mobilizing the constituency and making their opinions known. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and so forth. The annoying thing is...they don't say anything until the status quo is challenged.

But as the younger generations approach voting age, and younger Americans become more active in voting (though more still vote for American Idol than in civic elections...grrr), it's very likely that change can occur. Each generation has it's own thing to push forward and overcome. For our parents, it was equal rights for minorities. For our generation, it will definitely be equal rights for the LGBTQ population.

If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion...love actually is all around
