So, what is your perfect scenario for CD with your SO?

I couldn't find a similar thread and am in the mood to daydream, well, at night.

My SO is only temporarily where he is now (1 year)...but we don't know where the next residency will be. He refuses to make plans for us, because he needs to know for sure that he will get in, before we can even talk about it (there is a lot more to it).

My dream, well, is to be with him, once he has a longer residency (fingers crossed, we have no idea if he will get in, he did not get into the program he wanted last year and this may be his last chance) to move with him, where ever that might be. Ideally we would like to be here in Wisconsin...but I am willing to uproot as I cannot take 7 years of residency LDR!

    So how about you?
    Do they move to you?
    Do you move to them?
Do you move somewhere in between?
Does your SO feel the same?

This can be about dreaming too...not necessarily hard reality, ok, so have fun!

Our dream/plan is to close the distance by next year in July. We hope everything works out, of course.

I will be the one moving.
During the first 6 months I will take german classes in Hannover, so I will have a 40mins commute from where he lives. That isn't a problem for me because 40 minutes isn't thaaat long and also the train station is not so far from where he lives. I can walk there, and oh, how I love it!
So yeah, we will be living together in his cute apartment. While I study, he works. We will see each other in the late afternoon and during the weekends -when we are both free- we will take a "surprise ticket" out of our "jar of surprises" which is filled with little pieces of papers where we had written places we want to visit, movie days, cooking together days, lazy days, museum days, etc... just activities to do together on weekends.

Honestly we have talked about many things. We have a plan A- B -C, in case one of them fails. We know it is in part in our hands -making the efforts to help this happen, trying our best-, but we also know there are other things out of our hands -visas, school acceptance, etc- But for now, we are looking forward to the next visit which will be in December... and daydreaming, like you!

we hope to close the distance as soon as possible.....

but it is going to be tough, as there are a lot of things involved. I need to sell my house, give up my well paid job, remain friends with my ex as I am taking our child with me to another country, find a school, find a job there and so on.

that's raw reality I don't have to handle right now....

      what I am dreaming of?
well, that's easy...... we haven't met in person yet..... going to see him for the first time in January.... I'll be visiting him and his place, to see if I could fit in there, and if my toddler would fit in there as well.
so far, so good. there is a lot of love swirling around on line..... through cam, email, fb, skype and so on..... I hope it will be like that in real life too. I can't imagine it would not turn out erm.... promising.... but we're both human, so a lot of things can happen.

I just want him to get here ASAP...
Been waiting for almost a year now and it's driving me insane!

My dream is that we close the distance this winter.
And that all goes well with the work visa.
That he can after apply for permanent residency.
And well.... eventually I'd like to get engaged to him... /blushes
He's so awesome... I hope he gets here and never leaves me again...

Well since I'm dreaming, I'm hoping the next book I sell will get me a much bigger advance and solve our money problem... Then he could come and spend 6 months out of the year with me for the next few years until he gets his US citizenship in order... Maybe he would go to school here, or we could start the ground work at setting up his dream business... After 3 years of spending that much time together, I am sure we would be ready to take the next step and get married, which would make it much easier to get him permanent residency here in Canada... (We would get married in San Antonio, Texas, we kinda discussed it already!! lol) We would live in my house here at first, his elderly mother could spend the summers here in Canada (I even decided on the perfect apartment for her to live in just a few houses away from here) so that her sisters would only have to take care of her in winter... (who wouldn't chose to be in Texas instead of Ontario in winter!!??) His mother might be reluctant to go for this arrangement but I'm dreaming... so...
          First met online: June, 2010
First met in person: August, 2011 (See the story of our first visit)
Second visit: December, 2011 (Christmas and New Years together!)
          Third visit together: August, 2012
Fourth visit: December 2012 (Christmas and New Years together!)
Fifth visit: July 2013 (2 weeks here in Canada)
Sixth visit: December 2013 (Christmas and New Years together again and I finally met his mother!)
Next visit: Unknown... for now but coming up ASAP

Very nice hopes and dreams, I hope they all come true!
Right now my dreams got a little more basic, so hoping for some good health and then working on our long term plan...I think I am going to have to be the one to get us there...I would almost bet he will never propose

I am recently divorced - seperated since early last year (but NC makes you stay seperate for a year before you can file for divorce). The divorce went thru last month, but the hearing for equitable distribution is next month and spousal support hearing is in Nov. So we cant make any plans until Nov. If things go well, he will move here the first of the year. If the judge makes me sell the house, I will move to him next year after the end of the school year.
everything happens for a reason. We may never find out what that reason is/was, but there is a reason.

My perfect, dream scenario would be that he moves here and we live happily ever after. Reality though, is a whole different thing

Well, ideally we close the distance as soon as possible and live part of the year in his country and part of the year in mine. It could work in theory as we're both qualified for jobs that would allow us to work online rather than stay in the office most of the time. Also, it's only a short flight away, and we both own some properties (or are set to inherit them). But the reality is rather different, I'm afraid.

I will probably be the one to move to him, although this depends on a few career decisions both of us are yet to make (within the next 6-12 months).

The dream scenario would be me transferring to a shore side job in Florida and Helen transferring stores and moving from MI down to FL as well. Neither of us would be at home. We both feel like that our home countries/states suffocate us. I wouldn't even mind working somewhere else, but I LOVE the company I am working for. So, let's see where our careers bring us together. Since we both work for global companies, it shouldn't be too hard to make it happen. The when question is of course the hardest to answer... if it was for me, I would say immediately. But it doesn't matter where we end up as long as we are finally going to be together.

                        December 2014. Eeklo, Belgium.

We both graduated this summer and it's been one month since we finally rented an apartment. It isn't much and the owner is a bit of a grumpy person but at least he lowered the rent a bit when he allowed us to renovate it a little and i will use the biggest room to install all my photo equipment. The apartment is close to Bram's family so we can visit back and forth easy, plus we got cheap laborers yay!

I'm working full time at the restaurant where he used to work on the weekends, doing dishes, and he's looking for a real job in his field. He's been working like crazy on little games for years now and he's gotten really good at it, so now it's time he's getting money for what he loves to do (other than me )!

We're both saving up because that worker visa i had to get is proving to be a quite expensive investment.. few thousand a year and i'm not even working totally as a registered photographer yet. But soon i'll have enough to really get the studio going. I've been planning and focusing for years on family portraits, mostly baby pictures, and i have it all planned out, just need the initial investment to get things going. Maybe i should consider getting a job at that studio near us, they're close and they pretty much do what i like doing.. oh well, issues for next year.

I can't believe i'm in Belgium for 3 months already! Been great so far and i'm really getting the hang of the language. I was so silly to worry back in 2012 about not being able to learn it properly.. and i picked up the cutest accent too! Bram is teasing me all time, making me say impossible random words, but we speak in English most of the time.. i guess old habits die hard. I'm a lot more confident going out now and getting stuff on my own, and i was really pleased when that guy at City Hall was surprised my Flemish is so good. I also love being able to communicate with his family so well. I just love spending time with his mom, she's so great.

I'm still not sleeping normally, probably going to take more time to adjust to everything and i'm sort of missing home, but i'm happy here, and i wouldn't go back for anything!
