M- Because i want too and I love him
T-How do you ever see him?
M- I see him a lot actually, I saw him last weekend.
T- Why dont you date a guy in Georgia
    M-(i didnt say anything)
T- I just dont understand Long distance relationships. There stressful, ecpescialy in school
    M- okay.

Some teaches clearly haven't experienced what true love feels like, so they are just jealous..psh

"Why don't you date a boy from Georgia?"
"Why didn't you marry a woman who could teach you social graces?"

I've gotten that at work a few times- once recently. Working in a massively urban area, a co-worker sort of vaguely indicated around us and said skeptically, "What, out of ALL the guys around here you couldn't find even one worth dating?" And in my mind I strangled her with my computer cables... but I suppressed that and said simply, "Sure I could find a guy. But he'd be the WRONG guy."

It's always people who don't know me at all, or rarely talk to me that say stuff like that... so what does their opinion on it matter? Anyone who knows me on any level knows how crazy I am about my SO and how perfectly we fit together, and they would never consider saying any such thing

I know, right? So if his wife was to go into the military, would he leave her because he "doesnt understand long distance relationships"

I tend to get the same question. My answer's usually "have you seen the breeding ground results around here? You'd date elsewhere too."

Teacher sounded opinionated but without knowing the tone I can just assume it was minor ignorance and not them being mean.

It's tough because people who arn't in long distance relationships don't understand anything! Don't let what that person said bother you!

I've never had problems with teachers, but my school friends have given me a lot of grief. I know its hard and I really let it upset me. But like Paula said they just can't understand because they aren't in our shoes. We know our feelings and we know its worth it in the long run. I know it will be hard to see that teacher again but don't let them get to you, its not worth ruining your happiness with your SO.

There are people, A LOT of people, who's hearts die a little bit every day, the older they get, the more they forget how to be fearless in love and have faith in life. Feel sorry for that teacher, he will never know what true love is, he's obviously never loved in a way that requires, commitment, sacrifice, communication, and patience. I am sorry that his message to you was 'just settle for what's easy' not "work hard, be fearless, and find the things and people that make your heart sing with joy, then cherish them for as long as your blessed to have them."

In my situation it is my brother and his family, I was constantly being invited to dinners or bbq's that were surprise set ups with men that told me what they thought I deserved (IE rotten toothed, slovenly, men with alcohol issues and bad BO). I stopped accepting invitations from them, until my brother finally said "why can't you be normal and just find a guy here that will take care of you?" I said "One word....INBREEDING"

Everything I know, and anywhere I go, It gets hard but it won't take away my love,

i get stupid questions at work.
"do you guys like talk alot? like everday"?
                        "isnt it expensive"?
"dont your worry he's cheating on you"

people just cant grasp the concept of loving someone enough to make it work.

and doesn't that just tell you everything about THEIR character?

My mother use to say, "I'd rather be a fool for love, in love, than just a FOOL!" my mother would've loved Ian.

I don't think anyone's ever come to me and said anything like that when they've found out my boyfriend is from a different country, at least to my face. If I tell them he's English, they just go "Oh so does he live in Finland or..?" and I go 'nah' and that's that Don't know if that's just the Finnish culture or something, that people don't say stuff to your face that much and rather talk behind your back

I'd probably let my fist talk if someone said something like that to me haha, nah, I'd just try to ignore them but it wouldn't feel good, hearing something like that. They just don't understand.
