    Is this weird?

Last Christmas Tanja got me a great gift, it's a mug with the picture of the 2 of us on it:

    Here:

    I love it

Anyways, while I was in Finland, my Mum told me she'd put it in my room rather than left it with all the other mugs in the kitchen because my brother made his girlfriend a cup of tea using it...

She actually put it in my room over the summer too - she said "in case those 2 use it" (my dad and my brother) and I just said nah, they wouldn't do that, hence me leaving it it the kitchen this time.

So I was a bit surprised my brother had done that, it's not like it's a big deal, I just think it's weird. I'd never use a mug that had a picture of another couple on like that, my mum and dad said the same.

Don't you think that's an odd thing to do? Or is it just me?

I always have "my" mugs.. I don't use "other people's" mugs in the same household.
But yeah, I don't know. Practical me says it's a mug, who cares? The other me agrees that it is a bit odd! Some people are sentimental... and I'm one of them... but perhaps your brother isn't.

For years when I used mugs I never looked at the pictures. Looking back, some of my mom's mugs were a bit adult (adult humor, no dingdong handles I assure you) but like Zephii said, it's a mug. Now, I have my own mugs for everything and a teacup for tea. I have a mug for cider/thin drinks, a mug for milk/thick drinks, etc. Then again I'm OCD.

But yeah, I don't think it's that weird so long as they're not licking droplets off the faces.

I'm pretty sentimental, but I don't really think it's weird. I honestly can't tell you why thought. I think about and agree that it's strange that the person wouldn't think about the fact that it's a very special mug. But I don't think in the moment I would, and I probably wouldn't find it weird if someone used a special mug of mine.

I have a couple of cups/mugs that are very special to me for various reasons (given to me by someone special, souvenirs from trips, etc...). My friends refuse to use them when they come over because they're terrified they'll break them. But I never really understood why they were so worried. Seems I might be the exception to the rule!

Exactly, it is just a mug, and I'm not really bothered that it's been used, I just wouldn't have done so myself being in his shoes. I've got other mugs which are "mine" like one with my Uni's emblem, or crest or badge or whatever it's called on it, and I couldn't care less if anyone used that. Maybe I just think it's more weird because I only left Tanja yesterday

But yeah, I'm sticking to thinking it was odd

I probably look like some sort of possesive nutter now don't I

"Don't touch my things! They're MY things! "

Like something from the League of Gentlemen

          Anyway...

I think it is weird too ^^; Was it the only mug left clean? I could kind of understand that if that was the case. But yeahhh.....I would just feel uncomfortable drinking out of a mug with a picture of another couple on it. I would feel like it was invading their personal space or whatnot.

I dunno, I tend to grab whatever mug is there, especially if it's in the morning and my eyes aren't even open yet. If someone said "Hey! Don't use my mug" then I wouldn't, but otherwise I probably wouldn't think much about it.

Nope, definitely loads of other clean ones there. The thing is, my brother is a lazy BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so he will only ever pick the first mug out. Just like he can't be bothered to pull the dishwasher rack out to put a plate where it should be. In fact, he just put the plate in and if it lands diagonally, so be it. He can't be bothered to straighten it. Damnit I hate living with him, can't stand that sort of thing one bit... I digress

                Sorry about that

Erm yeah, there would've been at least another 20 clean ones in there, plenty of them "his" too. I'm glad you posted that

I think that's a little weird, but I know tons of people who never look at pictures on mugs, they just use it. haha
