    don't know what to do

I admire people who have been long distance a long time because it's only been 10 weeks for me and I can't take it anymore. I'm not happy where I am. The school is good for me for my major, like perfect. But I don't like where it is. I have always been close to my whole family and it's hard being long distance with them. Also of course hardly being with the guy that I can feel in my gut and heart and soul that I am going to spend the rest of my life with. More than that, I don't feel that Arizona is right for me. I don't feel comfortable in the state. I don't feel like it fits me. I don't know what to do. I'm so conflicted. The school is right for me but the place is not. Even my good days there are not great days. Being home, I laugh a lot and hard but I have never laughed like that in Arizona yet. I'm usually such a happy person and I'm not anymore. Even with my friends I feel alone. I don't know whether to find a new school closer to home or stay at the school that's best for me academically...

It sounds like you need a new school. Not only are you missing your SO, you're missing family and I know how hard that can be. Sometimes a change of scenery just doesn't work for us. Is there any possibility you could take your classes online and go back home? That way you could stay with the school but you wouldn't have to be miserable and so far from everything that makes you happy. No college is worth becoming depressed and isolated over because of the circumstances in which you're attending.

Have you just made the move to Arizona in the past 10 weeks? If that's the case, it's possible you're still adjusting to the move.

Try to hold out for a couple more weeks and give your all. Do your best to talk to the people around you. See if there is a club or two you can join.

If you do decide to move, you'll finish the semester, right? If you're completely miserable and feel you can't do it, then of course, you shouldn't. But the time will go by faster than you think, so I encourage you to do your best to finish it out.

Pay attention to your thoughts. Are you thinking negative thoughts most of the time? Try to recognize when you're getting yourself down and do your best to pull yourself back up. Try to figure out what's really bothering you, as well. What makes you laugh at home that doesn't make you laugh in Arizona? What's holding you back from being yourself in Arizona compared to home?

If you're going to make the investment in college, you should get the best education you can. But academics isn't everything, so you'll need to figure that out on your own after some soul-searching.

Take care! We'll be here for you while you figure it out.

When I first went to college, I was miserable. I hated it and wanted to transfer. My parents made me wait out the year and something just clicked. I loved it! I never wanted to come home!

        I would give it time.
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love " ~ Theodore Seuss Geisel.

I agree with Rugger and Rach321, stick it out! This is just a big adjustment in your life, of course it's hard! Keep busy and get involved on your campus. Give the necessary attention to your LDR but don't let it keep you from going out and making friends/being involved.

Be strong and give it some time!
