That was just ... slightly awkward

So now that Netflix has the option of watching a movie with other people now, my SO and I have been doing that a few times.
But a couple days ago he said he wanted to show me this movie called .... Ghost in a teeny bikini. I dont really think it qualifies as a actual movie really because we watched like maybe 15 min of it. Netflix claims not to have pornography but that movie was just that. It was funny at first and then I got kind of weirded it out because it just felt so awkward watching it with him.

eeeep did your SO just think it was funny? I dunno, things like watching pornography together should be discussed first I think, as obviously, it's not for everyone. Like it's not for my and my SO, but I know a lot of couples do watch it together. Did you tell him it made you feel awkward?

Hi, Sano. There are all sorts of views on this topic, but I think many of us would agree that if it makes you uncomfortable, then you should have a choice not to do it/ continue with it and should have an opportunity to talk to your SO about it. Tell him that it made you feel awkward (and why--think about the "why" beforehand, so you are clear in what you are communicating to him) and discuss it. Be encouraging that you like to watch things on Netflix together, but maybe read up on a summary of the movie beforehand and try to choose something between you that you would both like to watch on a date. Also, if he makes a suggestion for a film, etc., don't be afraid to look it up for yourself on imdb or something or even ask him what it's about/ if he thinks that you would both enjoy watching it together--there's nothing wrong with that, as it just shows curiosity and intelligence (and also involves him in thinking through or talking about things that will suit both of you as a couple).
