I agree it sounds very strange. It sounds like to me that this guy wants to get rid of his girl friend for some reason. And he wants to introduce her to your SO. Personally I wouldn't go along with it. Also it's weird that she can't take of herself. Maybe her boyfriend is getting tired of taking care of her. Sounds like she may also have some underlying issues herself.
