Hmmm...I heard about this movie! It looked good and I want to see it when my boyfriend comes home, but I don't know if we should because I'm afraid that the sad ending will get us down about this and kill our hopes of this working out in the end.

"Do I love you? My God, if your love were a grain of sand, mine would be a universe of beaches."

Like a drum, my heart never stops beating for you.

My dad and mom rented this movie!!! I started watching some of it with them but Ryan called in the middle so I went to talk to him and while I was walking out of the room my dad goes, "now don't have phone sex!" hahaha. it was after the part where they were trying to do that. My family is really open and loves to joke around so ya

Going to be in the minority here and say that I was not a fan. I thought it was unnecessarily crude, which just turned me off of the whole movie.

My SO brought me to see it one of the days he came up to see me.. It made the movie SOO much better because we saw it together. He would pull me closer whenever the main guy mentioned missing his girlfriend. <3
Although this distance breaks my heart,
And it's unbearable when we're apart,
I know that it will all be fine,
              As my heart is yours,
              And yours is mine.. <3

Eh... I honestly didn't like it. I got through the whole thing hoping it'd get better, but I wanted to turn it off several times. I wanted to like it because it's rare for a movie to be about LDRs and that is the only reason I kept watching it.

                ((semi-spoilers ahead))

But it was just terrible... There was no chemistry between the cast. The dialogue sounded like it was written by a 13 year old. I mean, I don't care about swearing and such (I do it quite frequently XD), but it felt really out of place and unnecessary most of the time. A lot of the minor characters brought nothing to the table. Erin's brother-in-law had a couple good moments, but that was about it. And the way Erin and Garrett met was utterly ridiculous... Not the bar part, but after. Just dumb imo.

As for the plot itself, it was so-so. It had potential and I really wished it had better execution. I did identify with Erin. Her struggle at getting a career for herself late in life is something I'm dealing with too. Except the LDR portion fell flat for me. Where was the internet?? Like the chatting online and using Skype?? The presents and gifts in the mail?? It just felt unrealistic to me. Not to mention for a LDR they spent a lot of time together. :/ And I really wished they had shown more scenes with Erin and her sister talking about the LDR. And I was kinda bummed that there were zero scenes with Garrett and his family... Oh, and Garrett's co-worker who was also in a LDR. I kept waiting for them to have some sort of talk about the struggles, but not much really came from it. Tbh I don't really know what purpose she even played aside to showcase it's not uncommon to have a LDR.

I thought the airport scenes were cute, but again would've been way better if Justin Long and Drew Barrymore had better on screen chemistry. :/

I actually watched the movie on my own because I had a feeling it would have a sad ending (as others have said, it doesn't really). I didn't want to watch it with Ray and get upset XD. So I gave it a test run and then told him pretty much everything I said here lol. We're not against rom-com movies, but this just didn't do it for me. *shrugs*

I felt the same way! I really liked the idea of the movie, but it didn't meet my expectations.

There was a tiny bit of online interaction in one scene where they were watching youtube clips together on the phone. I don't know why they used a phone in that scene- they didn't use any instant messenger which is probably one of the MAIN tools we use in LDR's.

I think there should have been a better ending to be honest but I sorta like the movie. I really think it was a nice breath of fresh air- I haven't seen an LDR movie out. I mean, there was another called 'Sex Drive.' And that turned out horribly. It pretty much made out that online LDR's aren't to be trusted.

Haha! I went to the theater when it came out to watch it with 3 girlfriends and when the phone sex scene came on I just wanted to disappear!! I watched it a second time when I went to visit my SO this winter ..
I thought the movie was alright, had some cute and funny parts but altogether it wasn't that great.

I'm not telling you it's going to be easy.
I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.

Yeah, the online interaction was shown briefly (just like the gifts). Obviously the whole movie can't be centered around it, but it just felt odd that they'd call all the time on the phone and not use Skype or another online messenger means. I mean Erin used video chat with her sister at work! I don't know why they didn't use that all the time if she had the means. :/

I didn't see 'Sex Drive', but I saw 'Euro Trip.' Hollywood is really lacking in good credible LDR and online relationship movies. In comparison to what else there is out there this movie blows them away. I was just hoping for more than what they gave. :/
