Stupid computer, I've lost everything! :'(

I've lost every sweet message, every poem, every doodle, EVERYTHING alex has ever sent me! I'm so sad. I don't know if other people do this, but I had a bunch of sweet things he'd said to me saved, and now I've lost them all. I can't believe i've lost it all! I'm lucky I wrote down his address a couple weeks ago, or I would have lost that too! I adore looking back over the old messages he's sent me and links he's given me etc. but now I can't do that any more =( Ugh, I'm so depressed! And there's no chance of recovering the files, they're well and truely lost.

Ugh, sorry, i just had to vent. I can't believe this stupid computer!

Well you'll just have to tell him what happened and demand more :-D Tell him your supply ran out and that he needs to feed the addiction...

If he sent you stuff through your email, it might be possible to find some of the stuff. IDK. Sorry though! My computer crashes all of the time, so I understand your pain. I have had to reformat it three times the past year :S

It's because I upgraded to windows 7, but windows 7 failed, so i had to go BACK to windows XP, so i lost like half my files. I thought I saved these ones, but I guess not =(

Yeah, my comp's crapped out about...twice in the last year. I lost everything the first time and all the unimportant things the second. One easy way to keep files is, if you have a web based internet account, e-mail them to yourself. ^^

            Same thing happened to me.

            Lesson learned: Print everything.

*hugs* I feel your pain, the same thing has happened to me. I lost sweet little pictures Ky had drawn for me using the handwriting feature on WLM, sweet conversations of ours that I had saved, songs, poems, voice and video messages from Ky, etc. Needless to say, I was devastated.

*hugs* I know the feeling, though probably not as bad. The first time my computer crashed, I lost quite a bit. It was then I spend $100 and got an external hard drive, and (try to) back it up every couple of weeks. And then the *really* important stuff I backup on flash drives, Dropbox.. And copy all chats into an Evernote notebook.. I'm a wee bit paranoid >.>.

I'm so sorry! I totally agree, computers are stupid. Try saving these things in a special folder in your email, that way, if it ever happens again, they will still be on the internet. This also seems to be a sign that you guys should participate in love letter day! Those last forever.

                  Best wishes,

                  Sarah

A nerds opinion squeezed in (lol): are you 100% sure you can't get them back? There's loads of data recovering softwares on the Internet you could try, most people think that when something is deleted from the hard drive it's gone forever but it almost never really is (unless you've used a program that first scrambles all the data and then writes the harddrive over for some 4 or 5 times, most erasers just write over the bootsection with 00000 values and it seems like everything's gone but it's only cause the files that are needed to boot are messed up and there's amost always loads of stuff to be found, in fact if the hard drive isn't physically busted then there's a good chance you can recover lots of data from it - sorry if this sounds a bit geeky but I'm a nerd lol).

Here's a few free ones you should try and if none of those work take your PC to a specialist.

I used Recuva when I lost all the files Andy sent me and I got all of them back

This last one might cost a little but it should do the job well and I know that the stuff you lost is priceless.

Read thoroughly about every software cause they are often meant for different kinds of data recovering and choose what ever is closest to your situation.

Good luck and I hope you'll get your data back!

oh yeah, that's happened to my boyfriend -three times-. Once at the beginning of our relationship, a second time about a year in, and a third time just this past fall. I keep everything he's sent me, and anything I send him. When something happens, I re-send it. It's nice when he realizes I care enough to send the things I know he'll care about. Just ask him to send things to you again because you love him so much!

I´m sorry to hear this. That is why I save my things on usb´s or cd´s too. I hope you have many more memories to collect in the future!
