    Webcams.

So I am on amazon and I am trying to find a webcam that I can buy for myself and for my BF. I have a Vista and he has an XP laptop so we need a webcam that is both compatible.

What webcams are you using? I have no idea what is a good webcam. I don't wanna get junk.

    Thanks.

I use the logitech camera that has a microphone built in it. It works great.

High quality webcams will go for about $50-70, but decent ones are Logitech and Nexxtech that can be relatively inexpensive. Newegg is a good place to look at practical reviews of computer parts. That's what I do when I'm looking to buy something. ^^

I have a Nexxtech Cyber-Eye webcam I got on sale for about $30. It's alright. The light balance could be better, but it works well enough for the price and I like the way the stand is designed. I can clip it onto my monitor or laptop, but it'll also stand on a flat surface.

I also have a logitech and have never had any problems with it! I got one that hooks right on to my laptop and it was super easy to set up and use.

I'd definitely splurge and buy a higher quality one for a little more money. The SO has nice one that he bought before his first deployment. It works well, I can see him fine. I think he said mine was around 40 (maybe I don't remember) and he's always complaining about it saying he's gong to buy me a new one. He says the image quality is off a lot. A lot of times it doesn't show smooth movements, I look all jumpy as I'm moving. The light balance on mine isn't great either....it doesn't really adjust itself. I have to do it on webcam chat settings. The clip isn't great either, I wish it was a little more secure and it takes a little manipulation to get it to stand on a flat surface. But it isn't absolutely horrible, it gets the job done. =]

I have a logitech, but it is the cheapest one, and I often have problems with it on skype. I wish I would have just sprung the extra $15 for the nicer one, don't be too skimpy!

Thanks everyone for your input. Right now, I'm not sure If I can get a webcam since my SO brithday is in May and I am gonna buy him things he needs. But when If I get one I think I'll go for a Logitech. Though, I found one that Microsoft made. Not sure if Its good or not.
