    Traveling the World

So lately my boy and I have been talking about taking trips together. I am lucky enough to be able to travel frequently and since we are closing the distance in 3 months we are hoping to celebrate by traveling together somewhere fun for just the 2 of us. I know we travel well together because when I go to China to see him we tend to go around the county and see other cities. We really like to share these adventures together and I believe it brings us closer.

So here is my question for all y'all...

If you could travel anywhere with your SO where would it be? I know money, jobs, school, and time are issues, but for the sake of imagination lets pretend those don't exisit and you could go anywhere.

I like thinking about these things and finding where I want to travel next or when I am rich. LOL

If my SO had his way we'd go to Japan. He's a big fan of the culture and history (as am I, especially their military history and folklore) so I think he'd wet his big boy pants if we were able to go and be those crazy dumb American tourists everyone complains about.

If I had it my way... I'm not really sure. I think entertaining the thought of going to another country or across the world is put off by the thought of sitting in a plane for 12 hours or so. I hate planes. So let's just say my SO drugged me and we went to Japan and I think we got there by Tardis.

I would go ANYWHERE with him! Seriously! I would especially like to go places off the beaten track. He has training and experience that allows me to feel safe in just about any situation with him because I trust he would never let something happen to me.

Specifically? Hmm... I think the next place we'll visit is South-east Asia (Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, etc.). We haven't planned it, but that's what my gut tells me.

Yeah I know the feeling. When I go to China to see my SO it is a 15 hr plane ride I just take a lot of drugs that make me sleepy and hope to be sitting next to someone who speaks English so they will wake me up for meal time. LOL.

I want to go to Japan too! I think there culture is so interesting and I really want to see the difference in life style from China. I think it is so cool that somewhere so close can have such a different view of the world and way of life

Well I plan to travel a whole whole lot. BUT I doubt my SO will be coming with me. He has admitted to me he doesn't like to travel as much as he originally told me. I like to go to a country for a good 1-2 months (great being a teacher!!!!) where he likes to stay for only a week or so. I plan to spend a few months in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, Belgium and possibly France. I plan to live for 2 years somewhere in Europe so I can take trips all over Western and Eastern Europe.

We can take week trips anywhere else. We've been looking into Russia recently! And we'll definitely go to Colombia and Guatemala too.

I always forget to answer my own question.

I think my current dream place to travel would be Australia. I like hot places and I always wanted to go down under!

We actually have a list of places we want to travel to together.
Iceland is quite high up there, but we're "saving" that for our honeymoon.
I want to see a few places in Russia and my boyfriend's in love with Hungary and -wait for it- Bhutan. I don't know why or what it is about it, but he claims it's a cool country. So if money wasn't an issue I'd take Bhutan, seeing as the rest of our places are in Europe and travelling to them will be rather affordable once we grow out of being poor students.

My SO and I have traveled quite a bit already. We've been to austria, England, Germany and up the west coast of the states and Canada. I would really like to go maybe to Greece to one of the islands for a relaxing holiday by the ocean. Most of my traveling involves seeing as much as I possibly can so to do the opposite might be nice to do with him.

Sadly, I know we're not going to travel together very much, if at all. Every time we have that kind of money saved it'll likely go towards visits to whoever's country we're not living in at that time. But that's ok, I'm not really big on travel anyway. I do want to travel our home countries though (Canada and Australia) because I think it's important to know your own culture/know about where you're from, especially when our kids are old enough to appreciate it.

We're also going on a cruise to the Bahamas sometime this year (probably right before we go back to Aust.) because we won the trip ^^; I'm glad we're getting to travel at least a little before we get hitched and pop out some bratlets.

In fantasyland... hmm, Ireland for sure. Maybe Scotland too, and the mother country perhaps. He wants to go to Japan, which would be cool too. Real sushi? Yes please!
Oh and New Zealand. I wouldn't mind jumping over the ditch and having a look around. I also wouldn't mind visiting India, because the stories my work mates tell me makes it sound facinating.
Happily married to the little Canadian boy I never thought I'd meet in person

Ha ha ha! Sounds like my SO and I. My SO's visited twice (his sister worked there teaching English for a few years), but I've never been. Perhaps someday... but I'm also not looking forward to the plane ride.

A few other places I'd love to go are the U.K. and Israel. I've also done a lamentable job of seeing my own country, so I'd love to hit up the east coast.

Our initial plan was to go backpacking at the beginning of next year, but life got in the way and I decided to go to school first.
We both are very keen on traveling the world, beginning in Asia, and have talked about it a lot. If from now, all things go as planned, we'll spend a few years in different countries teaching (for me) and something else (for him). We want to see a lot of asia, then africa, then south america before settling down. Then maybe take vacations in Europe.

Too many plane ride complaints XD To get to South Japan I need to change plane twice and in all it takes about 24 hours. XD
I'm glad to hear people has a wish of seeing Japan. You really should! Such a beautiful country filled with nice and respectful people - who don't speak English though XD. Japan is my second home ^_^.
My SO and I have talked about going to Vietnam. I also want to go to Korea & Thailand, my SO has already been there, but is okay with going again (including the meaning that he'll pay for my trip as well). Basically I want to see a lot of countries in Asia. To be honest, it's starting to bore me that I'm always going to only Japan.

I also use drugs to make me sleep (This time around I slept for 10 hours straight from Tokyo to Paris - good drugs) XD I've been to China once as well (Nanjing & Shanghai) and their life style is truly different from Japan. Seems like almost everything in Japan is different from China.

My SO and I are planning to go to Scotland when I'm there this summer. We're also talking about going to Ireland, Greece, and Italy. It won't be this summer, but we have a lot of time left together.
