Prom Problems

So it's my senior year in high school. My dad doesn't know about my relationship with my SO. He insists that I get a date. And then when I say I'd rather go with friends, he asks if I'm a lesbian. (He would be fine if I WAS a lesbian, but I'm not, so...) Anyway, so it's come down to this. I need a date. Definitely. I was thinking of going with my friend("Jeff") who's also in an LDR, but he's asking someone else. I feel like I'm back where I was before my relationship! Jeff and my SO have met when he was here, and they got along great, so I feel like that would be the perfect choice, cause it's safe. And I think if I asked anyone else, I'd be taking away from their chances of asking people they might like.

I don't want to use people, but I want a date as well! -_-

I'm just frustrated, I suppose. haha.

it sounds lame, but i know a guy that took his laptop to ring dance. his SO did the same (same night). they "slow danced" on webcam together. cute! haha.

Well. If you're being sneaky about the relationship...why not be sneaky as to why he's your date? :] You could tell your dad he's new here, or maybe a friend of a friend that lives out of town?

You could tell your dad you're all going over to a friends house to get ready, and your dates are meeting you there.

Sorry, but why is it important you have a date? At my school end of year balls only a few people had dates.... we weren't allowed to bring people from other schools and not many people were in relationships... why should you take/be taken by anyone? :/

At my school, it's just more fun to have a friend-date. You just take someone, doesn't matter if you're best friends or if you "like" each other or if you're dating them or not, whatever.

Hmm. Are there any guy friends that you're close enough with to establish that it's not a date (and even tell them why, if you're comfortable enough) that definitely aren't romantically involved with anyone? If you're worried about taking away his opportunity to easily ask another girl to prom as a real date, then tell him that when you talk about it with him. Or you could just go with a bunch of friends and have your own little group, not really a one-on-one date but a bunch of guys and girls.

Well yeah. My one guy friend, but he's already asked another person. And I'm kind of pissed at him for that actually. cause we're both in LDRs and it would have made sense. Plus he's like my best friend.

And it's important to have a date because a) what my dad says goes, and b) I want to have fun.

Fair enough I suppose... There's always the route of coming home and pretending that no one wants to go with you and crying before then saying that you want to go anyway just to show them. Hehe.

i have a similar problem. mom thinks i need a date, even though she knows about my SO. she "doesnt think its right for a pretty girl like me to go to the prom without a date"

i asked my best friend to go with me.

I went to my prom last year with out a date and I had fun...
See if any of your other guy friends don't have a date and clue them in as to why you are taking them?
