We can't text. I'm annoyed. He's checked everything with his company in Ireland, I've checked everything with mine here, and while he can get my texts, for some reason NO ONE can figure out, I can't get his.

Try texting using twitter @ replies or direct messages. Most countries have their own twitter mobile number, texting to that number posts a tweet to your twitter account. Or if you have a smart phone just use a twitter application. Not only can you send and receive texts internationally it's completely free of charge save for your local text messaging/data charges.
