So I am due to fly out to visit my SO on Sunday, but due to the Volcanic eruption in Iceland, my flight may get cancelled. the ash cloud is currently over Scotland, and all but one Airline (Ryannair) has cancelled all their morning flights too and from Scotland. The cloud is due to hit northern England (where I am flying out from- Manchester) tomorrow, and will probably hit Spain and France by the end of the week.
They are saying the flights may not be disrupted as much due to the fact that the ash particles are heavier then the eruption which took place last year, and therefore fall to the ground quicker. The papers of course are reporting "THOUSANDS" of people could be effected, whilst the airports are saying it won't be bad. It's hard to tell who to believe. I am going between freaking out and believing everything will be alright now.
Last year, my parents almost didn't make it over because of the other volcano- I would have been trapped in New York City by myself for a week, but thankfully they made it just before the other flights got cancelled. This Christmas, my SO nearly didn't make it out because of all the snow, both in America and England, but he somehow made it out too. Is it so much to ask to have a trip where I'm not anxious and worrying beforehand? I thought summer, all there is to worry about is a few thunderstorms, but no. Volcano in a country I'm not even going to has to throw a spanner in the works.
/ end vent
Are anyone else's travel plans being disrupted by the volcano and airport closures?
