Anyone's SO NOT romantic?

XD uhm, he's actually more romantic than me. i just doodle things, and he likes to get into cuddling, and saying the sweetest things, and he decided to send me something back without me asking <3 soooo, idunno haha but your boy is trying, he just has his own way

My SO is not very romantic either. It used to bug me a bit when we were first dating, because he's a very logical person. When we go out for dinner, he figures out exactly how much each of us owe (down to the very last penny!). He doesn't make any sort of big gestures, and unless he's a bit drunk, he gets super awkward if I try to take a picture of the two of us! And he's definitely the sort of person that would think taking a day off work to spend with me is a big, romantic gesture, haha.
I've learned that with him, while he's not a typical romantic, he does things that are romantic in his own way, without realising it. When I was sick and really wanted pepto bismol, he ran around at 11-12pm checking every open pharmacy to see if he could find it! I thought that was incredibly sweet, but he'd never have thought that was romantic at all, lol.

OH this sounds sooo much like my SO.... when we have dinners, I still pay for my own sometimes, but then he will turn around and buy me a movie ticket (I buy the drinks....lol). When he's a little drunk he starts talking more about "caring" and it makes him super uncomfortable, and oh lets not talk about getting photos together, after almost a week together on his last visit, it was like pulling teeth to get 4 pictures together. My favorite is "the kiss".....

But taking time out of his "busy schedule" to call me or text me.... that's romantic to him..... let alone that day off work AND missing Fathers Day with his dad to be with me...

I like some of the other ladies would be considered the nonromantic one. Or perhaps its better said that we're romantic in our own ways. He's great with words(sadly, since we use my second language-Chinese- to communicate, he's sometimes so great that I don't understand him) and writes me eloquent letters(he doesn't think so, but I think so) and surprise love notes. He's got very good timing-I usually initiate contact first, but when he does it it always seems to be at opportune times when I'm a little blue or at least not expecting it. In person he's both affectionate and playful, rubbing circles on my palms with his hands and playing jokes.

I tend to do more of the "stuff" side-little gifts, cute cards, and such. I have a Walmart across the street from my house, and whenever I stroll by and see a cute card that either reminds me of him or of long distance relationships, I'll get it. I tried to buy us matching keepsakes, but customs lost it...D:. I knit him a scarf, but now I'm terrified of customs losing that one. >> However I NEVER know what to say in letters, and its always all simple stuff.

It literally kills me and if you find a way to deal with it let me know. Because a lot of times I really feel like he doesn't love me any more. And no I am not being overly emotional. When he needs to, he can be VERY romantic (when he had screwed something up or in a super good mood). So I do not believe all those "it is just not me", because I have seen him being VERY romantic.
