    SO's tarot cards...no more me?

So my SO's step grandmother reads cards for his mother and him a lot. And his mother asked her to read his cards about his possibility of moving here. The cards said that he should wait longer and it's still too soon. Also they said that he will have issues with one of my family members and also that he will be working extremely hard when he gets here. But then within a half hour his mother came in and said there was other things that showed up in the cards. They said that in 2 months he will be getting very sick and end up finding another girl.

So obviously I am a mix of emotions right now and extremely pissed off at everyone and I really just want to kill someone. But he keeps saying that will NOT happen because I am the only one he wants, which I believe. And I also read that if people believe so much in the cards then it may happen. Also a lot of people are saying they do tell the truth- and others say they don't. So I just don't know what to think now.

And like he said, why would this happen if she read the cards about him moving here?
What do you think about tarot cards? Fake or real?
Today is definitely not a good day for me.

Fake. Definitely fake. I would never put much stock into anything like that. If two people want to be together, they'll make it work. Don't let some silly cards worry you.

Personally, I find tarot cards/fortune-telling/horoscopes to be a big load of nonsense. They're mildly entertaining, but you shouldn't put any stock in what randomly assorted bits of card say.. Enjoy being together, support each other and make each other happy. You'll be just fine, in my opinion

I had my tarot fortune told once with a friend. The lady told us the exact same garbage. I wouldn't dwell on what was said.

I've had my cards read three times. Some of the stuff was spot on, and some I was able to disregard. Tarot card readers are always able to tell that I'm a therapist, and a manager, and that I work with the elderly and love my job. One was able to tell me that I was moving out of my mom's house into my own apartment with a kitten (at the time, I had just signed for an apartment, but didn't have a kitten. Rescued one about a week later though, and she lives with me now in my new place). I have also heard all three psychics tell me the same basic thing for my future, which is pretty specific (will live with my husband's family for a short time, but not because of finances; will settle down in a place that is not where I'm from b/c of his job; and will have two homes... one will be a vacation home). Pretty specific for three different people to know.

HOWEVER, there are certain things that I feel like aren't true, or don't necessarily have to be true. For instance, when I got my cards read over the winter, before I got with my SO, the woman told me that I would find true love in the summer, but then another guy would enter my life, and by the end of the summer I would have to chose which one I want to be with. I have found true love, but I have no other guy, most likely because I'm not looking for one, and I'm not open to that. So I made that not come true for myself, because I didn't want it to.

Does that mean that all tarot card readers are good? No. But they aren't all phonies. I do believe that some people really do have the gift of seeing, but I take it more as a suggestion then as truth.

In your situation it sounds to me like your SO's mother does not want him to move. I hate to suggest this, but do you think that maybe she made it up to get him to not move?
Why do you wait for me?
How do you wait for me?
I'm lost and alone without you here in my arms.
I'm lost and alone without you here by my side.
Here's a song for you, lovely
Remember that it's for you only, for you only.
My heart is caught in a landslide
And it beats for you only, for you only.

I don't see why there's any reason to be upset, other than the fact that maybe your SO's family doesn't want him to move.
Tarot cards work on a few principles - mainly that they give a person vague "predictions" that could apply to so many different situations, and that people believe them. I know people who have their cards read regularly, and I find it completely ridiculous what they'll take to be the gospel truth.
I'm a complete skeptic. I don't think there's any way to see the future, and I like it better that way!!

Thanks to all of you for replying so far. And I do know his mother would obviously be upset with him moving but I don't think she'd make up the cards. She has already said to both of us she would be a little upset but it is his decision in the end. Me and her are very close and love each other dearly so I don't think she'd make it up. And it's not like I'm stealing him away forever. I want him to move here for about a year and a half and as soon as I graduate from high school and I turn 18 I plan on moving back down to Florida to be with his family and where he already lives.

as a person who is wiccan and believes all sorts of paranormal stuff, they are real but you have to have alot of practice in knowing what your doing with them because you could give people false imformation, think Miss Cleo!!! mmmhmm....

ditto to that, there are people who are psychic, and empaths me and Denise are one of them and hell were not always right with everything and we tell people that if we give them readings, but unforchuntly there are some people who prey on other people to get money and tell them things that arent true, this is one of those cases where unforchuntly there are people out there that give the people with gifts like these a very bad name

I believe some people are truly gifted in this area. There's so much we don't understand -- yesterday's magic is today's science. I think psi gifts are just innate instincts we haven't figured out yet.

Tarot is a tool. And from what I've heard, it takes someone with a gift to read them, as the cards can be rather openly interpreted. I also think it would be hard to read someone if you are emotionally involved or have an investment in their future. I believe it can be done, but someone would have to divorce themselves completely while doing a reading to not be influenced.

So she may not be that gifted, or she may be letting her personal feelings influence her reading. In any case, you make your own fate, not a deck of cards. I think readings by someone gifted can be insightful, but when it comes to predicting the long-term future, well, I just don't believe things are written in stone. Things change, and you can change them. Life the life you want. Don't take one reading so to heart that you let it come true.*

*I say all this from the bit I've studied in the matter and my own personal beliefs. I have a friend who does tarot and readings, but I've not talked with him much about it. Although the things he's said about me are spot-on, and thus I do believe he's got a great gift.

I think its Fake i think when stuff actually happens like in the prediction its because people get crap in there head and by free will and making up there mind that this is whats going to happen causes the outcomes to turn out like the so called "fortune" :P

I personally don't believe in that type of stuff. I once had a sociology professor go around the room and make "predictions" about everyone. What kind of car they drove, whether or not they were in a relationship, if they were living at home or about to move out, etc based on everyone's gender, age, race, the clothes they were wearing, etc. Out of everyone, I think he was only off base on two people. It's fairly easy to read people by things like that and that's what the vast majority of psychics and tarot readers do.

Tarot is something that's very open to interpretation. I'm not saying she made up the what the cards were, but in tarot you pretty much choose how you want to read into something and that's obviously how she chose to read into things. It's not like the cards had written on them "this this and that" will happen.

Don't stress yourself over this. I'd be more worried about how upset they are about him leaving because obviously they are upset.

I second that. My dad once had his fortune told by a cards reader and she said that by the time he'll be 35 years old, he'll be an engineer with 2 kids. Result? He is 40 now, works in a hospital as responsible with the elevators and has just one kid, me. So I wouldn't worry on what a fortune teller presumes it will happen.
