Anyone Here Spent a Long Time Together with Their SO Before Doing LDR?

Cuz Im in that situation, just wondering if anyone is the same. Weve been together for 6.6 years, married for 1.9 of those years. And currently started an LDR, which sucks...

Im just wanting to know someone who feels the same pains. Memories everywhere...

My SO and I were together 3 months before we went LD the first time (for a year). Then we were CD for a year, and next Wednesday we'll be going back to LD again. So spending a year together...being able to bond...and connect on way deep levels, it makes me miss him already. I can't compare to your 6.6 or your 1.9 of marriage though! But I'm going back to the place where we were CD for a year...and no matter where I go, I'll end up remembering him. :c

Yes, but not nearly as long as you have. In my current relationship, we were together for 8 months before we were LD. In my last relationship, which also turned into an LDR, we were together for 2 years before he moved. Also, I have a friend who's been in an LDR for a year now and she and her bf were together 5 years.

It sucks initially because you will always remember how things used to be before you became an LDR (I'm still going through that period). However, you do become adjusted eventually. You're not alone.

How long will you be long distance for?

Yeah, but only like 6 months. We go to college together, and we are only long distance during the breaks. But we'll be together for another six months or so soon!

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 16 months and we see each other almost everyday. But he's going off to college in a month two hours away so it really sucks. No matter how much I beg him to stay, he has to leave.

We were 9 months together before I had to leave (visa ran out and had to complete my final year of Uni), so not as long as you, but we were very attached and living together. He struggled a lot with me being gone for a long time- everything reminded him of me apparently I was struggling too, but at least I didn't have to deal with being in an apartment we'd shared all the time.

Yeah, my boyfriend and I have been together 8 months and he's just moved to Singapore (from Scotland) to do a year abroad as part of his degree.

He's only been gone two weeks and I miss him like crazy- everything reminds me of him and I just can't stop thinking about him no matter how positively I try to think about it.

I know I'm going to see him in December, so it's not quite so bad- it could be so much worse- but it's just really difficult to try to put things into perspective y'know?

But I know that I have to try to think positive, be grateful of the communication that we do have and the time that we'll get to spend together when he gets home- having faith keeps me going!

You are not alone in this

We've been apart all of 5 weeks since we got together in November. We're only looking at a LDR once I go home on the 31st and then back to school on the 4th. But yeah I think we're both kinda dreading the 31st. He said to me last night that he keeps having to remind himself that he is in fact STAYING at home without me and is just dropping me off at the airport.
". . . We obviously have to come to accept it, but that doesn't stop it from gnawing at us day by day.
The best we can do is enjoy our time together, anticipate our reunions, and remain passionate and loyal through distance." ~Mike <3

My boyfriend and I spent 11 years together before we went long distance. Granted, we were only friends until 14 days before he left for college. But, nonetheless he's been my best friend and my rock for the past 12 years now and it was so tough to say goodbye to him when he left for school. It was a big change for us because we used to see each other almost every day for 11 years. We went to school together from the time we were 7 years old to graduating high school together.
