I don't know how to explain to him and show him that it's not immature.
That people actually can make these things work.

I think that him speaking to you in this way means that he is ready to move on.
Maybe he still wants the two of your to be intimate with on another if you physically cross paths again, but does not want to be with you unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately... anyone who speaks to you that way is not deserving of your love in the way you'd like to give it to him.
