Me and my SO started CD (we attend the same university) but are LD during breaks in the school year. We aren't international yet but, in only three weeks, I'll be studying abroad in Taiwan for 9 months, and we will be.

Not long distance yet, but I met my SO about a month ago, and in nine days I'll be going to Belgium for a year for study abroad.(O.O)
I feel really silly compared to all the other longer relationships, but he and I are so close already...I'm not willing to let him go just because we had bad timing.(He insists we don't have bad timing, that this was just the only time we could have met xD)

We met at university and lived together at uni for the 3 years we were there which was great and in 4 weeks she moves to Thailand for a year. With the time difference etc it's going to be difficult especially as we know what distance like this is. So yes we started together and will soon be apart but after 2 and a half years together I think we can do it

I'm Canadian & met my boyfriend while studying abroad in London, UK. He's English.
We dated close distance for only 2.5 months before I had to come home. However, the crazy thing is that before we met he planned to go on a bus trip around Canada & the USA. His flight to Canada arrived 10 days after I got home & was to the same city where I live! So we had 10 days apart, then a bit of time together, then 5 weeks apart while he travelled, then a week together & THEN.... it was 4 months before we saw each other again. We've had two more visits since then & we'll be closing the distance in October (I'm moving there).

We met - on line - and we start our relationship in our second date.
So, we dated for 1 month close distance and after that I left, cause my visa expired.
It's sad and difficult be apart, but I'm sure we can do it. I'll be back to the US in 6 months.

My SO and I right from day one were living together, I needed somewhere to live, and was offered to stay with her for a while until I could find my own place. That never happened. That was about 5 1/2 years ago now....
We had been together for about a year and half when I went into the Navy (New Zealand), and when our Daughter was born (I started my basic training 12 hours after she was born), after 8 Months of Basic and trade training, we could finally live together again, but were still away from each other on a regular basis. About 18 Months after I Joined the Navy, our Son was born about 2 years later I left the Navy as they were making some major cutbacks in funding including cutting uniformed staff, and was sick of living week to week, so we discussed moving to Australia and getting a job in the mines.
In September last year, I moved from New Zealand to Australia, for a job that was paying 3 times more, and would allow me to spend more time with my family, and actually get my family ahead instead of living week to week, the original plan was for all of us to come over here for 2 years, save up a bit of money, so we could go back to New Zealand and buy a house. In November my wife and kids followed, we were spending more quality time together than ever, and could afford to do things we had only dreamed of doing while in New Zealand, however after 6 Months my wife was missing her family, didn't like the town we were living in, and decided that she wanted to go back to New Zealand.
Now im sure alot of other people on here that have moved internationally would agree, it takes time to settle in, and it can cost a bit to get set up. and I worked out that If we were to all go back now we would be worse off than before we left New Zealand in the first place. So because I want to give my children the best opportunities in life, and keep my wife happy, I suggested that she moves back ill stay here for the planned 2 years, But if she was to go back she would have to be financially independent as running two households would cost too much to make it worthwhile staying here. She agreed, and in July she left Australia to go back to New Zealand

My story is interesting, but I guess you could say we started CD, I've always had a special place in my heart for Errol. We dated once before and had too much pressure on us at the time. But unfortunately he ha to move to Switzerland. Thinking back to when we first dated I saw him all the time and it was great. Being in a relationship with him where I can't see him in person like I'm used to us hard. But I love him and he loves me and were gonna keep working until we can e back together again! Just like you will. It'll all work out anything worth having is worth fighting for. Always remember that.
