I´m enjoying reading everyone´s opinions on Canada :P Jesus though, I´m from here and I hate that taxes aren´t included in the price, and the tipping. Also, a lot of the time the manager gets a portion of the waiters tips. And yes, we need more Mexican food. Desperately.

        - women have to ask for permition to leave the house, go working or travelling abroad
        - women are not allowed to drive cars

I can´t tell much abouth things I love in Saudi arabia, as I´ve never been there
        You can add:

If you decide to leave the state's religion (Islam), you get beheaded.
If you are "caught" in what is believed to be an act of "fornication", you get 100 lashes.
If you are believed to have partook in an act of homosexuality, you get beheaded (or is it hanged? I'm not sure)
If you are "caught" "stealing", you get your hand cut off.

        Etc, etc.

As for what to love, then I suppose if you are a devout muslim you really want to visit Mecca and Madinah? And of course there are those huge malls and hotels.

Sorry if that wasn't in the spirit of the thread (or even the forum). I am very bitter. I don't mind if my post gets removed by the moderation team.

                My SO is from Brazil

                I love:
The language (I'm currently learning Portuguese)
                The food!!
The nature and all it's diversity
Very friendly people, I feel so welcome there!
The climate (I'm from northern Europe and I've had enough of the cold)
The ice cream bars(!) (you serve yourself and pay by the kilo)
                Music

                Don't like:
Crime rate, got robbed first time I went there..
                Harder to find work
                low wage
                corruption

The "loves" outweighs the "don't likes" by a million fold though!

                  Love:
The country is beautiful, it stays green throughout the year including winter

It's rainy and cloudy about 80% of the time and i love that type of weather

It never gets above 80 degrees which is nice

Same sex couples are never frowned upon, nobody even looks twice if you walk down the street hand in hand with your partner

Food!!! i friggen love it!!! especially the chocolate cause it melts in your mouth *drools*

Depending on what city your in there are alot of job opportunities

So many places to go and visit
when you watch tv you get more show then you do commercials

Pay as you go electricity and gas, i find that much better then having to pay a monthly bill

Public transportation is huge there and very reliable which is nice!
The buildings are very old and i just love that

You are allowed to go onto places to investigate hauntings and explore even with security, they dont mind as long as you tell them first

                  Hate:
I love the accents! However the further in Scotland you go the more thicker and hard to understand accents happen, something i'll have to get used to

Sometimes all the houses look the same, so for me trying to find my way around is gonna be diffacult

Stores close very early sometimes, maybe one or two places are 24/7 or open late

Whenever there is a blackout it sometimes takes them a few days just to get to work, they are slow to respond for that

Denise used to live in Aberdeen, so many creepy people who tried to stalk her or actually did, every night she came home with a different horror story so i wont even go visit that area. no way

Rent is so high in most places many people need to get help with paying it, the rent prices are nuts O_o

everything is a bit more expensive, and i have to look up on a currancy converter just to see how much stuff actually is, prices may seem low but they arent

your not allowed to carry any sort of weapon on you for protection not even mace, it could land you in jail

there arent many things i hate about Scotland which is good

                    The food is amazing
                    Cheap petrol ("gas")
                    Lightning storms

                    Hate:
                    Tax not included on prices
Sometimes can be too laid back
Not a lot to do within travel distance
                    Immigration/Visa is way too strict

                      Finland.

                      Likes:

                      - Finnish nature. I can never get enough of staring at all those trees, rivers, lakes, hills, etc. It's all so quiet and peaceful, too. And I love that, in Espoo (where my SO lives) you can just walk for a few minutes, wherever you are, and find yourself in a forest.
                      - The people. I live in a society where your private life is pretty much everybody's business, so dealing with people who value privacy and personal space so much is a nice change. Finns seem to have strong work ethics and they abide the law (mostly). I admir that.
                      - The roads are mostly in an excellent state, and drivers stick to the rules, which is a nice change, too (where I come from, we have the world's 4th highest road mortality rate. People drive like crazy).
                      - Concerts. I managed to catch many of my favourite bands live in my few visits to Finland. Bands I never would have imagined to see a few years ago.
                      - I have a growing fascination with Finnish history and am trying to learn more about it everyday. Simo Häyhä ftw!

                      Dislikes:

                      - Let's start with the obvious: the weather. It is just that cold. I think the worst is when you're standing near the sea, though. The wind coming from the Baltic Sea friggin' BITES. I don't find winter that depressing, to be honest, because you kinda expect all that snow, and the very few hours of sunlight. It's spring that bothers me, because it's mostly grey and rainy and even snowy, which is very different from my home country.
                      - Finnish summer is beautiful. However, it brings a legion of mosquitos, horseflies and all sorts of bugs that make it difficult for me to stay outdoors.
                      - No mountains, mostly. It seems awfully flat to me!
                      - The Baltic sea is no good for swimming. It's like a giant lake. Not very salty, and rather shallow on the beaches. You have to walk for ages to get chest deep. Or at least that's how I experienced it. Maybe I went to the wrong beaches? :P
                      - Suomen Sisu (the organisation, not the concept)
                      - The relationship with alcohol that many people seem to have
I thought of you and the years and all the sadness fell away from me - Pink Floyd

All my loves/hates are silly, minor things, but here goes.

What I love about Maritimes Canada:
                        Poutine. 'Nuff said.
People seem to generally be easygoing. When I visited his city, I expected it to be like the cities I've lived in before (Las Vegas and Phoenix), but everyone seems to be more, ah...well behaved.
It is absolutely gorgeous out there. And I can't wait to live where the leaves really change color!
East Coast Canadians have the most adorable accents and vocal lilts. They go "eh" and I get all kerfluffled.

                        What I don't love:
No decent Mexican food! I lived in the Southwest US for most of my life, and this oversight is unforgivable. J and I had to go to multiple stores just to find tortillas! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT. I mean, I can make tortillas and fake my way through some decent Mexican dishes, but where do I go when I just need a quick and dirty carnitas burrito?? NOWHERE, THAT'S WHERE.
Their current PM reminds me of a prior US President. One I wasn't fond of.
Their sales and income taxes are unbelievably high, and everything costs more.
^ Holy crap I lived in the same areas that you lived in too Las Vegas and Phoenix :O it's a small world

                        USA

                        Pros:
-FOOD FOOD AND FOOD I just love American food and the variety that comes with it! I also love how cheap it is too!
                        - Driving! Just being able to drive with your own car and bumping up some nice music!
                        - Trashy no pride having fame whores reality shows
-Pants and shoe sizes they have sizes for EVERYBODY!!
-Ability to get ethnic especially African American hair products with such ease and finding a good hair salon

                        Cons:
-I feel that Americans talk the talk but don't really walk the walk!
-The lack of value when it comes to friendships. It's easy to make acquaintances in the states but when you're in that dire state it seems like everyone flakes out and is all of a sudden too busy....
-Forgetfulness americans tend to forget a lot of things especially when it comes towards being kind to others. For example, everyone is so hard on Obama but everyone seems to forget how dumb Bush was in the past or how he started the wards
-Seems like mean people get away with everything. For example, we don't hold executives accountable when they ruined a lot of peoples' lives financially. They mostly get away with and a lot of them aren't even in jail it's disgusting!
-Healthcare seems like healthcare is getting more expensive and and more corrupt and unorganized... it's really sickening we pay hundreds of dollars every month just to pay even more of a higher deductible but Americans are so brainwashed on how "socialism" is so bad for Americans when we need it at a time like this.
                        -2 words CORPORATE AMERICA!
-Selfishness I really didn't like how people cared more about themselves instead of being considerate of others. In Japan, if you're not considerate of others you're socially shunned but in the states you can get away with being selfish!

I hate that the US has so many restrictions on foreigners getting work there!! Before 9/11 it was much easier for a foreigner to get a job and live there but now with a lot of uncertainty in the world it became even harder to get a job there without a visa already in place! Otherwise it's not a bad place to be since the whole country is pretty stable despite the financial situation...and yeah where he calls home makes me love it even more since we met while I was in college at his favorite city selling beer at a football game for his favorite team
