    Introducing myself: New to LDR

    Hi all,

My name is Jo, I'm 26 and live in London, UK. I met my now boyfriend, Ben, over 2 years ago through an online facebook game. I started playing the game again in August last year and got chatting to him again. It just so happened that both of our relationships were in the process of breaking down at the same time and we found comfort in each other. That comfort turned into something much stronger and on New Year's Day he left his home of Brisbane, Aus to come and meet me for the first time.
For days before he arrived I was getting so nervous and panicking that I would make a fool of myself in front of him or faint or something! When I saw him coming through the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport a calm feeling just came over me, I think he was shyer than I was! I just went up to him with a huge smile and kissed and hugged him. I had bought him a coffee and I swear he had said to me in our conversations that he likes it just black with no sugar... this turned out not to be the case. He likes milk but no sugar, he drank it anyway... we laugh about it now.
He stayed with me throughout most of January, he left here on Monday evening and I'm missing him like crazy. Hopefully going to plan a holiday to Aus in March, it can't come soon enough.
Well can't wait to read more of your stories and I hope you enjoyed mine so far!!

    Jo xx

Welcome! Woo London That's where my SO and I are living now, fantastic city.

Sounds like the two of you had a wonderful first visit, I hope that you can adjust to LD again soon! When we were Ireland-Canada it always took me about 2.5 weeks of feeling distracted and sad to get back into the swing of things, haha.

Really 26 hours? I fly from Melbourne to Heathrow and I can get flights that are around 22hours.. and Melbourne is much further south than Brisbane, seems odd lol, Maybe you have a longer wait at the stopover.

Anywho, it'll totally be worth it, I would fly an extra 4 hours if it meant I got to see my SO in March! That's super close and exciting

Yeah its 4hours 45 mins layover in Singapore. People keep asking me if I'm gonna go for a walk about in singapore but I think i'd be too nervous, besides, aren't airports usually miles from anything?? Anyone done this?

I've travelled a lot and 4 hours and 45 mins shouldn't be enough for a relaxed walk in Singapore, even if I would suggest you to see the city because I LOVE the place there. And I always prefer to have more then 2-3 hours of layover so that my checked luggage never gets left behind (I had my luggage arrive later twice because of short layover time). 4 hours and 45 minutes will pass in a flash before you know it. It is true that most airports are miles away from the city but that's not always the case (and I don't remember about Singapore's case), plus I walked around Amsterdam once but I had about 12 hours of layover so plenty of time there and I didn't have to keep checking the time. I would suggest to take your time to walk around the airport, change terminals (if your next gate is in a different terminal), pass through security check, time in airport goes by very fast (and you have to keep in mind sometimes you will have to wait in lines for security check and other stuff). Maybe take a book with you or something to entertain yourself while you have time to wait. =)

Thanks Karura Yeah I doubt I will go wandering in a unknown land! I was considering buying an iPad/tablet to pass the time. I'm really not a fan of flying and this is one hell of a trip alone! Eeek... the things we do for love eh?
