First meeting jitters + parents wont understand

oh wow. hes most likely coming here, my boyfriend. i've been with him for 1 year and nearly 3 months, earlier this year i found out that he will be coming here with his mum to see her fiance, HIS MUM IS IN A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP!!!! this gave me so much hope for us!! im just, every time i think of seeing him i get butterflies and smile like person for a toothpaste ad. i'm just scared, how will i tell my parents that hes coming here? i love him with all my heart and i see myself growing up with him. i want my parents to see this but they just don't understand, can anyone help me? or help us?

    yeah!!! Can't wait!!!

It's just like she says, everyone. I may be going over to Australia, JUST FOR HER!!! My stomach does backflips every time I imagine our first meeting, and I swear I get vertigo. How does that happen sitting down?! Anyway, yeah the parent thing is definately an issue. I wish they could understand but Kaitlin and I don't know how to get them to see it the way we do. Is there ANYONE on here that can help us to know what to do?

Kaitlin, this is a preview of when I first see you!!!----->

      ahh you two are cute!
for the parents part there is nothing more you can do, if you told them that you have a boyfriend and that you are in a ldr
you have done what you can they have to make peace with it them self
maybe if they see him, maybe with his mom there so everybody can talk about it they will understand better?
honesty always works best! tell them and be honest about it
      good luck you 2!!

Parents (I'm assuming 45+ age range) in this digital age, cannot comprehend how online/LD relationships work unless they experience it for themselves. The first time I showed my mom World of Warcraft she was mind boggled that there were other people playing the same game at the same time and in the same area as me even though she'd played played Nintendo with me in the past. The sole idea of knowing someone to the depths of the their soul without having ever met them is completely foreign, not to mention unorthodox to most folks. I think once you're parents see you two together it'll be a completely different story.

I think the best thing to do is just be honest with your parents. Explain that you're in an LDR and that he and his mother are coming to Australia and you would like to meet him/spend time with him. It might help to show them that you've been talking for a while and that you're serious about him. The fact that his mum is coming with him could help matters as then he's not unaccompanied and they may feel that it's less likely he's a serial killer stalking kids on the internet - not that there are many people who are serial killers online, but parents worry about this kind of thing!

Most of all, I'd be open with them. I wouldn't try to hide it from them because that just makes parents think that there is something untoward going on.

Good Luck and I hope you both get to meet, you're really cute together!
