Packing cigarettes for 2 week trip....

I'll be at B's for 2 weeks this time. Last time, one carton of cigs for one week was enough but I'll need 2 cartons now.

Canada's restrictions are one carton only. I had packed a full carton, last time, plus 4 loose packs in my socks/underwear and nothing was said. I wonder if I could pack the full carton plus 10 loose packs and get away with it. ??? Anyone know? (A pack of cigs in Canada is $10 and I can't afford that!)

Do you think they would just take them away -- or worse?

You could get fined. Just bring the allowed amount and if you need more buy some. The prices aren't going to kill you.

This. Because packs of cigs here in the US are much cheaper anyway.

Would mailing them be any cheaper? If so you could go that route.

I don't know, you're probably better off not listening to me, but I'd do it. I bring extras back and forth every trip, but I am prepared to get caught one of these days If it were me, I'd stick a carton in my checked bag, and one in my carry-on, since you won't have both of them together.

Different advice from all -- LadyDaemon, yes cigarettes are cheaper here but I'll be in Canada where they are 3 times our price! ....... Kayla, I thought about that but B said he didn't want me to do that for fear of him getting fined. ......... Moon, I won't have any checked bags -- just a carry all over my shoulder and a rollabout on wheels. I also took extra the last trip and nothing was said. They were tucked into my socks/underwear and they didn't even look in those.

I normally buy 2 cartons at the airport, like moon im prepared to have them taken off me /fined. I have a friend who works for a big airline company here in the UK and he said that if i open each pack and take out one it's ok because then i can't re sell it, not like i would lol. I don't know how true this is but i guess it makes sense.

I don't think I'm the best person to listen to really (I always bring more stuff/stuff that isn't allowed... Not cigarettes in particular but dairy products and the like) but I haven't gone into any trouble yet even when they've checked my bags. So I'd say bring it anyways, but yeah, be prepared they might check.

After hearing about the International Travel advisory -- which will continue through August -- I think I better play it safe and make sure I have the cash for the extra cigs. I'm assuming they will be even stricter at customs now.
